Campy Pista Hub - Safety & More problems
Hi all-
Replaced my cones and lock nuts (parts 32/R and 33/P) last month. Only rode about 300 Miles, and they've both broken again when I just readjusted them this morning. Any ideas on why this might be happening? I'm guessing I should take it to KingKog in Brooklyn for a proper rebuild once I get replacement parts.
In the meantime, I'm going to ride on the cracked lock nuts and cones - is that suicide?
Also wondering if I shouldn't just get a different rear hub - do people really love these campy hubs that much?
Ash

Just one side or both sides? If just one side, was it the same side as before? Why are you finding it necessary to adjust your hubs so often?

Good question.
My Pista hub was in service on my road FG for 20 years, and is now circling a velodrome on a friend's track bike, on it's original axle/cones.
The only time cones were adjusted was once per overhaul, they spun perfectly until the next service a season or three down the road.
Take it to a good shop, they'll use an axle vise w/ the correct parts and proceed.

Both sides busted. I think I'll take it to King Kog in BK, have them rebuild and not open it myself again for an overhaul - I don't seem to know what I'm doing? Need spare parts though. Anyone know anyone for that, or is Harris the best place (E.A.I. Track Axle Set - Campagnolo Type - Harris Cyclery bicycle shop - West Newton, Massachusetts)?
