This might be a stupid question do bear with me.
Why is there no handle bar that is both bullhorn and drop? Basically like drop bars with brake levers acting as bullhorns. People can choose one or the other but there is no bar that combines both styles?
Is there a bar like this already out there? I'm thinking it's not made for these reasons: would be heavier, might look stupid, most people prefer one or the other bar type, maybe it won't work for some reason I'm missing? I just like riding bullhorns but think it would be nice to switch to the drop position every once and a while. I also think you'd have more hand positions. Okay bring the fire guys. Edit: tried to edit title fail. "So" not "do" |
there are bullhorns with a drop after the bend. multiple companies make them. some with mild drop like the fyxation rodeo or syntac "they make deep drop as well" nitto also makes bullhorns with a much more aggressive drop and some with a mild drop as well.

Okay maybe i worded that wrong. I know some bullhorns have a slight drop in them but I'm talking about combining a bullhorn bar with a drop bar.

Unless I'm missing something, it seems like drops with hoods is basically what you're talking about.
|
I've honestly never had brake levers, hoods are for brakes right or can you have them without? And yeah that is more or less what I'm talking about, but instead of buying drops and adding hoods I was wondering if you can buy a nice and sleek single bar.
|
or that... that...
|
ive seen nubs that you can slide onto drops to give the same position as brake hoods without the levers. not sure the name.
|
I would run these on drops over some silly hybrid drop/bull horn bar anyday.

this is what I'm thinking the poster is asking for as well. |
There is such a thing, but it is not so terribly pleasing to the eye and is designed for nothing but endurance track racing.

Ok thanks guys. I guess brake levers are just easier and less silly looking therefore there is no need for a hybrid bar.

Has anyone ever seen anything that is like both pizza and a burrito?

Looks like a messed up drop bar with hoods.
Im not sure what looks messed up about it. That particular set up uses a touring bar so it has different contours than a typical road drop. Those are not hoods they are dia kompe knobs. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=396313 |
To each his own. I feel like the knobs look silly and the brakes (is that what those are?) look a little odd. Thanks for sharing though. After seeing all the possibilities I still love my bullhorns.

Hooded compact drops. Most plentiful hand position set up imo and hoods are a must for climbs.
