From the height of your saddle that frame looks a size or two too large for you. And by the height of the handlebar I'd assume you have some fused vertebrae.

As far as what you did with it I'm not a fan of the cranks and chainring being powder coated. Maybe if it was just the crank arms it would look better, maybe.

But that's just the opinion of one jerk on the Internet.

I'd feel bad if I didn't think the guy was just trolling. Who would ever admit to buying a $14 crank off eBay on a bike forum? Forums are well known to be deadly pits of snobbery that have broken many a man.

I've seen it on a few other aluminum frames too. The seat clamp is welded on.

Nothing wrong, it is just odd to see something like that on anything other than the bikes they were originally on.

The weld in question is clearly in the middle of the top tube, on the seat tube. I don't see how it can be the seat clamp, which is a few inches above the weld.

Disclaimer, I'm not a bike builder nor am I an expert, so please enlighten me.

I probably would have left the crank and stem black. Also, the handlebars look pretty long to me. I'd go with some risers. And those wheels, while they sort of resemble a mag style wheel, aren't super flattering. I'd think some black spoke rims would look much better as the ones on the bike look a bit... um... Cheap.

I mean, if you like it, that's cool. It doesn't do anything at all for me. The welds on that frame are pretty wonky. I'd be interested to know what you spent on the frame plus powder coating because you could have bought a Leader 725 frame in that awesome green for like $400.

I'd be surprised if a frame plus custom paint was less than $400. Plus, the Leader frames are pretty awesome and have pretty welds. What you have looks like a Leader clone. There are tons of them on eBay and the like.

For a budget build, it's fine. But if you spent much over $200 with the custom paint, I'd say you spent too much.

hmm, It looks like you are right, though I've NEVER seen it on a frame before. I scoured the eBay & Aliexpress and found this

Looks like you're right, though it looks like garbage.

"Garbage" isn't really a strong enough term. The welds on the Titanic were smaller. Gross...

Sorry OP, I don't like your bike either.
However, I do like the colour and getting it powder coated is a good move in that it's tough.
I don't think you did yourself any favours getting the crank and chainring powdercoated though, you really need some contrast there - the current setup is a little overwhelming.
The idiot who thinks your frame is too big just because you like your bars at the same height as the saddle can be ignored. Not everyone likes to ride bum up, head down, nor is it always sensible.
Fit a front brake and use it. It does most of your braking (with some on here, all of the braking because it's all they've got) and will stop you faster than any rear brake or skidding technique ever will.
I'm not a fan of the wheels, but I don't like that style. On your bike, if you like them, they look fine, they certainly don't offend by looking out of place.

Overall, I think it's a good build spoiled by that crank and rear brake only. I'm also sure it's a blast to ride and you'll have fun wearing it out. Go for it

Learn how to read you blathering old coot, I think his frame is too large because there's only an inch of seatpost showing.

You'd have to have the proportions of a chimpanzee to find that fit comfortable.

On a positive note, I like your rims way more than aerospokes because those pretty much suck.
Plus it depends on how much you spent. If you spent a total of $200 or $300 making yourself a custom that you love, then good on you no matter what we think. But hearing you got it powder coated makes me also think that you should have just bought a leader. I see them all the time cheap on craigslist if you are near a large city. Curious also to know your while budget.

To answer questions, the frame size is 56cm i'm 5"8 170p. It feels fine to me. I dont like drop bar handlebars I had them on my vilano road bike and gated them.
I like the bullhorn handlebars because they help greatly when powering up steep hills. I dont like leaning to far forward when riding as it gurts my back on long distance rides, im not trying to be aero dynamic.

I bought the frame as a combo on ebay it comes with the frame, fork, headset, and seat post. It comes in three sizes 53cm,56cm,60cm the color options are black or white. The frame and fork are aluminum alloy.
It cost $139.99 with free shipping sols by cyclingdealusa.

The crank was a steel takagi brand crank it was uncolored came with the arms it was $8.95 + $5 shipping

The pedals I got for $14
Handlebars for $13
Handlebar wrap was $2
Yaban chain for $8
Stem was $1 + $4 shipping (love ebay)
Had a spare free wheel.
Duro tires were $32 for two after shipping
Tubes were $8
Bought rhinodillos tire liners a pair for $14
Saddle vader seat on ebay for $12
Rear brake setup $30

The wheels I bought on ebay from china they are by a company called TMC the front wheel was $112 and the rear was $138 free shipping for both

The paint shop charged me $100 for the paint job of the frame, fork, handlebars, stem, headset, crank+arms
I could of also had the wheels painted to but decided to leave them black.

It was a tough choice on the color, the place gad tons of color swatches to look at some had some cool looking effects such as a fishscale look, plus a chameleon color changing iridescent ans pearlescent color effects,

I almost paint the frame and wheels this iridescent color changing effect but decided to match the celeste bianchi color.

It looks, to me, like an artifact of whatever process they used to form the seatpost collar area.

Did you prep the frame yourself and then have it powder coated or did you have them do everything? And, how much did it cost?

(and, not to pile on, but... if you're riding fixed with only one brake it should be in the front since almost all of your braking power comes from the front wheel )

It's actually a pretty good sandbox to play in, as long as you....um... be careful what you are asking for. Stick around, enjoy the ride. Lots of excellent folks and conventional wisdom buried here. Oh, and if you re just trolling for entertainment, well then I've just been caught. heh.

What was wrong with your first road bike. I get the impression the components were better on that one, and a component upgrade might have been a better choice.

Now, as to the bike: needs everything but the frame re-done. Stem, headset components, cranks, chainring ... you need shiny alu or all shiny black. And some good graphics on the frame. Do something to hide that seatpost weld.

Addendum: congratulations on illiciting as much deep seated .... attitudes .... as the helmet thread.

How about no. I like how the regulars in FGSS can be rude and insulting to everyone who stops by but one retort and people's feathers get ruffled. What a baby.

French fit still calls for a fist width of seatpost give or take btw.

Sorry I called your boyfriend something that's pretty much written right beneath his user name.

I think all the mindless bickering in this thread has resulted in us losing sight of the true matter at hand.

Let's get back on track. That bike totally sucks.
