Hilarious, true, and sad, all in one. Also... in response to the watch thing, while I don't have any really nice ones, my wife did get me what I think is a beautiful piece for our wedding a few years ago. It's a Charles Hubert. I don't know much about the brand or if it's high end or not, but I always get compliments and it wears really nicely with jeans and a sport coat or a suit. Here's a photo of it next to my dad's old Minolta X700, which I still use and love dearly: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8505/...243807b7_b.jpg I also have a good family friend at a local jewelry store and he got me a good deal on a Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar watch for under the $200 mark last Christmas so I splurged and spent part of my bonus on that. Otherwise, I'm a Casio diver kinda guy. If you guys are into watches, though, check out Crown and Buckle. They have some neat NATO and leather bands. I've got a couple for my cheap watches. Makes 'em look nicer than they are. :D |

Please allow me to preface my answer with this; I don't see Jeans as a fashion garment, thats what suits are for. To me, jeans are a utilitarian garment. They should function well and last a long time. Looks are a distant second place. Also, most Jeans available in the US are not made in the US, but company specific design and quality control standards DO impact the final product. Jeans are for riding your bike, camping, hiking, skating, playing outdoor games and just knocking around.
Carhartt. Tough stuff. Not pretty. Good stiching and fabrics. Multiple choices of fabrics and weights. Excellent and usefull pocket placement and designs. Bulldozer operators, Cowboys, and railrod worker type jeans. Levi's. Anything that starts with a "5". All about the fit, skinny vs roomy. Levis makes "good" jeans as well as a "designer" line. The "Cheap" ones ore good and the "designer" ones are cheap. ;) Dickies. I am not of fan of their styling, but the quality is there. Lame "Old" names? Yep. And there's a reason they have been around since the 1800s. Personally I am a diehard 550s guy. Not too tight, not too baggy, not too ugly, last forever. Calvin Klein and Ralph Loren make some really nice mens clothes, but they should leave the Jeans to the old hands. |

Try this. What's the Hottest thing in the world. A girl with LONG hair, no hairdo, a faded sweatshirt, and super faded worn out 501s. Especially if you know she is braless under the sweatshirt and you can smell the Pacific ocean nearby. Heaven.

Glad to see you enjoy the X-Series as well. They were way ahead of their time, in my opinion. |
Nice - I have a Minolta XG-M that I still love to use

I still love my A-1 and AE-1 Program, myself. Thinkin about getting the Olympus OM-D E-M1 for that old school look in digital form.

The A/AE-1 is a classic too and quite a quacker if you don't CLA the mirror mechanism in a while. I'm not too fond of the FD mount though. I was originally planning to get one but adorama cancelled my pre-order for the kit when oly had teething problems with the 12-40 2.8 kit lens which delayed the kit's launch and hence the body only initially release. Ultimately ended up holding back considering my EP3 is still kicking and we have an mkiii already. Now, I lust after a nikon df body for all the retro-camera and nikon "no change F mount" goodness. Just the thought of me shooting with it thru my AIS 135 F2 makes me want to give nikon all my money. :D |
Is this the fashion forum or the bike forum I'm confused?
