What kind of BMX lever should I use for a brake?
Any recomendations?

A lot depends on the diameter of your bars; most BMX levers do not have any real adjustment to their clamps so you have to pretty sure they'll fit your bars before ordering. I would get something you can have some confidence rather than something like Diatech MX, which while it fits most bars (the clamp's really adjustable) it feels very flimsy in the hand.
Most of the other Diatechs (77s etc., Dirty harry) are pretty good. Snafus are not bad either. But I would measure first. |
Big fan of the IRD levers here. I have a tektro on one set of bars, and IRD on another. The IRD has a much better fit, finish, and feel. Plus, they come with several different sizes of gaskets that allow you to get a good fit on your bars. The downside is that they're relatively expensive...

Dia Compe Tech 77 all the way, if I ran a brake on my fixie it would have a tech77 mounted; they are all I will run on my BMX

I got the odesey brake lever for my fixie and it didnt fit, but I made it fit. I should have gotten the tech 77, though the dirty harry is allll I would run on my bmx.

I have this one and it is sweet! Small, strong, replaceable parts. Hot Sweetness...

another vote for the goldfinger. I think it comes in two clamp diameters. The one I got came with shims to fit a bmx bar, and without them, they fit the flats on my drops and bullhorns.

Look at the models that have a hinged clamp or a very narrow clamp. Sometimes it can be hard to get the wide clamp past all of the bends, esp. if you run a road drop as the bends tend to be more abrupt.

Too bad the Goldfinger is ugly.
Well...in my opinion :D |
