Backward circles

Do you get dizzy doing this?

And... my wrists are hurting from practicing trackstands... maybe I need bullhorns. :p

napalmandroses 04-03-05 05:19 PM

if your wrists are hurting doing trackstands put more weight on your butt and less on your hands...that will also help you get more control once you decide you need to move while doing trackstands...like flipping your bag around and pulling out a pen and paper to get some phoooone numbers

backwards circles...i get dizzy after about 3 dont have any help for you there...

hmm, you also have to be "rooting" thru your feet, as in let your weight sink to your feet and hold you there in the pedals.

backwards circles? up+down+left+right+ab+start

[edit - hey ultrag, how about next time you're thinking about doing one of the distance rides, instead stick local and ride with a couple of us that can give you insight into the skip/trackstand thing etc. etc. If you're down, lemme know..]

Did you say handstands, or trackstands? Empty mind Daniel San and sit back down on your tush. Then take hands off of your bars, grasshoppa. focus on your pelvis area as the center of balance and not your upper body. There should be very little pulling and pushing once the sweet spot is found. May the force be with you.

I usually lean back, clench my seat with my thighs, and let go of the hands. From there I can sit down or do whatever but the point is, I always get my hands off. Maybe that would help your wrists from hurting.

Hey, I'm definitely down with this too. I put the front brake back on my bike, in case of emergencies, but have been riding brakeless (with much pain in quads) ... so far so good too!

When do you guys ride? I work evenings on the weekdays and have Fri-Saturdays off.

I've been going to the volleyball courts in Central Park to practice trackstands.

I'd like to get in on that too if you guys are gonna do a ride and school us on skid/skip. I've got it down mostly but need smaller gears for the skid. ch0mb0, let me know if you wanna do a couple of loops in the park this week..

ch0mb0 04-03-05 08:39 PM

hmmm. well here's my deal...
work weekdays in midtown, don't get out 'til 6 or so.
sometimes I take my hour lunch into and around Central Park.
weekends are sketchy, there's a lot to catch up on...it could be either day.

If anyone's schedules match, let's go. Especially for those close to CP who wanna get a "fixed lunch" roll and eat while we ride!
