Good shoes to ride with toeclips
For cycling with toe clips, are there any staple shoes that are both good for both walking and riding? I have pretty much been religiously cycling with Toms when not on my clipless bikes. I want to get an alternative shoe, but im not sure thats good or not good.
Any suggestions? |
how much walking do you plan on doing? mountain bike SPD style shoes are made to be walked in (not a lot of walking).
Chrome makes shoes with SPD attachments, I think other companies do too, just search. |

Chrome makes plenty. I have a couple pairs that have gone two years, ~3000 miles and will probably last that twice over again.
Definitely tuck your laces. |
I wear skate shoes. Just like walking in normal shoes. Soles aren't as soft as runners which avoids numb spot issues. They tend to be fairly tough so the toe clips don't chop them around.

YES.... this. |
I wear Supras low top skate shoes. They're not as thick as most skate shoes so they have a nice slim profile. They fit well and are comfy on and off the bike.

I can't imagine a worse shoe to ride in than Toms.
