24" (520mm) wheel help
 

i posted this in the recumbent section too, just incase.
anyways, i know a couple of you guys ride funny bikes with a 700c rear and a 24" front wheel, and i was wondering if anyone knows of any place online to buy rims/wheel/tires/tubes. mainly right now i am interested in a new rim. thanks for the help, matt

and does anyone know of anywhere besides harris? i dont really want to pay $60 for a rim if i dont have too.

I think vomitron was the one having this problem.

If i remember correctly, you can get velocity aeroheads in 24" from aebike. for about $44. in 28 and 36 hole drillings

I only know of a canadian site that sells them in 28H

yea i just realized the iso on the aeroheads is 507mm and i need a 520, i guess if i dont find anything i'll just keep using mine, can you post the link to the canadian site just incase?

The idea of 24" wheel was to get better aerodynamics out of the bike. It worked for awhile until the UCI changed everything. The Germans and Americans use them alot in the early 90s.

I would recommend ebay. That's where I ended up getting my rim (until it got stolen, then I switched to 650c) for $20.

As for tires, Terry sells them (along with tubes) for cheap.

A lot of the stuff is silver. Don't hold out for black.

...so how did that work out anyway, man?
did you end up with a big gap between the frame and front wheel? or suffer some overlap?
was that frame made to ride with a 650 in the front?

I tried the 700 on my bike, and it looked and felt wrong.
Ended up ditching that fork and going back to the 24".

It's good. It's less aggressive (the geometry), but still twitchy and explosive enough to warrant riding that low. The seat and headtube angles were VERY steep to begin with, so the slackening of them is still very acceptable for me. I forget the headtube angle, but seat tube is about 77 degrees. I haven't bothered to find a 24" wheel to see what it was before.

If I wanted a dual-700C bike, I wouldn't bother having a pursuit frame. That's specifically the idea behind a pursuit frame, no?
