fork threading
 

anyone know where i could get a fork cut annd threaded in l.a? i know ye olde lbs could do it.. the problem is the fork is chromed to the threads.. and the guy that sold it to me said thats really hard on the tool.. anyone know how to handle this situation? btw.. its a straight blade ciocc fork i got for 50 bucks.. from um.. i forget the name.. reporto corssa? sommething like that.. i can get it for you if you want.. they have straight and curved chrome 1 inch ciocc forks.. they nice..

there was a shop on beverly blvd that sold road bikes. not that far from rodeo drive. I. Martin import was the shop.Don't know if they are around.

they moved but now have 5 locations.

I hate cutting a chromed fork as it is very hard on the cutter(SHARPENING A CUTTER IS 35 TO 50 BUCKS) That said I will cut a threaded fork because so few people need it done anymore, might as well make somebody happy. :)

well i wish you lived in l.a....if i get desperate maybe i can send it too you..it would make me really happy

L.A. is huge, there has got to be a shop that will do it.

this is a decent place to ask this, i suppose... is it possible to have a 1" threadless fork threaded? yes, i know that some people may think i'm dumb for doing it, but that aside.. can it be done?

There is absolutely nowhere in LA to get that fork threaded..Nope no one will do it, so you might as well hand it over to me and I'll destory it for you....and by destroy I mean put it on my bike.

I think that is the gist of what the OP wants to do...and find a location where this threading would occurr.

If its too long you can always use spacers.

if my bike shop ****s up my threading, they will be buying me a new fork. cannot say i'd mind too much, heh.

no its a threaded fork.. i just want to thread it furthur and cut it..

jr. ... i have a curved chrome ciocc fork that he sent by mistake.. im going to send it backl.. but im sure hed let me buy it instead.. its 50 bucks..super nice.. he was nice annd put the 2nd in the mail before i returned it

Its a sweet fork and I'm really tempted to buy it from ya, but right now money's tight and I'd have to put it on another bike considering I have shunned chrome in favor of black for my current ride. Good looking out though. Thanks.

yeah it was me. The fork is still good to use threadless, but the threads I paid to have put on there stripped in about a month :mad:

I would not thread a threadless steerer. The wall thickness is not enough to support the threads.
