The Matt Bike
As some of you know I have spent the last couple months putting a fixed gear bike together in memory of my late son Matt. I documented the process on a web page:
Memorial to Matthew R. Dille
I hope you like it.

The sad part about that last ride together was that his bike got stolen and we had to ride the train back.

Even with the video we did not catch the guy or get the bike back. The green bike that Matt had was a replacement for the one that got stolen. The first one was a Razza 2.0 and the second was a Razza 3.0.

Cool bike. May Matt's legacy roll on in that bike!

Wow that that's really low, weird video he doesn't look like your typical thief. But honestly I guess there's no such thing as a typical person with bad values, they came in all different forms. I've actually been waiting to catch one in action, stealing a bike is sacrilegious to me. At least the new one in his honor is bad ass and you have the replacement!
PS: The bike I rode down on was a Colnago race bike that was converted to a fixie. The thief unlocked both bike, but only took the geared bike.

The thief is a professional. He did his dirty deed on a busy street with lots of witnesses. The way he did it was to break the act into several small parts. He rides up on a bike, so he has a reason to be fiddling around the bike rack. Then he walks back with the bolt cutters under a newspaper. Snip, snip and he is off. He comes back later for the bike he rolled up on.

Very cool bike, man.
What kinda locks did you use at the Reading Market?

I used two cable locks to lock both bikes to the bike corral. They were both what I call "country locks". They had light cables and cheesy combination locks. I now own a "city lock" which is one of the U-type with an auxiliary 1/4" thick cable. Live and learn.
