fat rider needs YOUR help

=im not really fat persay..juts heavy....6'3" and 195 lbs.

im thinkin the follis conversion needs to be retired for a more realish track frame

i thinkin about picking up a 2002 fuji track (id prefer iro but i figure if the fuji is half the price of a mark v...i win

question is....am i too heavy for it....im thinking i may be entering a traithalon on this steed and would like to give the track a try (but it will prolly never happen)

i just want a solid ride....can a chro-mo 3 y/o fuji deliver?

my fate is in your hands buddies....dont let me down

Its all how you ride. Dont run into stuff and keep an eye out for potholes taxies etc..
and you should be fine. I weigh 210lbs, 6' 5" tall and I can make a cheep bike last for years. Just be smooth.

Go with the Fuji. I have a Masi (steel columbus tubing) conversion and have never had any problems. I am close to your size 5'9", 200 lb.

inkdwheels 04-11-05 08:54 PM

Im 6'1" and weighing in at 220lbs. I had a mark v with a carbon fork and it took serious abuse and held up fine. The fuji is steel, im sure you'll be fine.

King of Kadence 04-11-05 08:58 PM

I'm 6-3 @ 240, you ain't fat, or even heavy.

emayex 04-11-05 09:03 PM

im not so much worried about it breaking....as i am about flex...and i ride really hard...any thaughts?

Slacker 04-11-05 09:29 PM

i'm 200+ - no worries. you gotta try to break a bike ,dont just happen.

edit regards to flex - it aint gonna flop around or anything. frankly, i dont notice frame flex, just absotbtion of bumps. steel i shappy.

emayex 04-11-05 11:52 PM

any more takers?

i love tony at iro...he is the man and helped me out alot even though ididnt end up buying anything from him....should i just go for a new mark v pro?...i know im gonna regret asking this cuz nobody will answer about the fuji

sloppy robot 04-11-05 11:56 PM

yes

darkmother 04-12-05 09:35 AM

I'm the same height and weight as you are-(don't remember anyone calling me fat though....maybe they were being nice?) I think you should be fine on a well made cro mo frame. The nice thing is, when you do break it, you can get it fixed. I'd go for it, steel is very tough if it's built right-and the fuji's look sensible to me.

emayex 04-12-05 10:53 AM

thanks mom

i all for steel....my current baby is steel and i dont plan on deviating...im just trying to decide on this...and i think im gonna go for it...maybe

darkmother 04-12-05 12:13 PM

Keep us posted.

inkdwheels 04-12-05 01:07 PM

Dude, Just buy my Gitane (its your size, see ebay thread). So I can buy a Rob Roy :D

emayex 04-12-05 01:29 PM

well i fyou want to give a buddy a deal....i cant drop 500 bucks on a bike...and all i need is a frame....down the line im gonna drop some serious coin and go all out..but for now i just need someting to stick my current components on...that is of course..unless a really great deal came my way

ultra-g 04-12-05 02:49 PM

I'm 5'8" and 215lbs. I think I outweighed all the other guys going up to Nyack last Saturday by a good 20lbs. at least (I'm effin' slow too).

Any road bike on the market can handle 195lbs.

labratmatt 04-12-05 02:58 PM

I doubt you'll have any problems with a good solid frame, you're not that big. You should pay attention to wheels a lot more than you should pay attention to frames.

thecosmicmuffin 04-12-05 03:01 PM

i got you all beat at 6'2 and 260lbs
