My favorite OBS for track stuff is www.businesscycles.com
There's also http://fixedgear.americancyclery.com/ but they cost a little more... |
San Francisco Shops LBS
Road Rage - 1063 Folsom (@ 7th). Good prices on everyday bits, great service. Maybe the most track friendly store in the city. American Cyclery - Stanyan & Haight. Everything you could ever want, lots of vintage stuff. Pricey but they can hook you up with almost anything. http://fixedgear.americancyclery.com. Refried Cycles - Haight @ Fillmore Lots of fixies, gets track frames in occasionally. Ex messenger. http://www.refriedcycles.com/ Freewheel on Hayes - Travis seems to be able to get all the stuff that no-one else can. Co-op bike shop. The other store on Valencia has new frames and bikes (though sometimes an attitude). http://www.thefreewheel.com/ Pedal Revolution - 3085 21st Street. Lots of 2nd hand bits, occasional fixie on the floor. Good service prices and they build a lot of street fixies for their customers. http://www.pedalrevolution.com/ Saloon Des Bicilettes - Fillmore @ Haight. Small shop. A few bits, occassionally a frame or bike. But great service esp wrt to wheel building. Worth dropping by every now and then. Also worth checking out the Bike Kitchen, Roaring Mouse and Big Swingin' Cycles. |
Don't forget Ye old Bike Shop/Biketeria/Dog City or whatever it is they're calling themselves, on 14th and guerrero. They have tons of stuff in bins and you can haggle over the price. Good place to build a beater...
But yeah, of all the SF bike shops, Road Rage is my favorite right now. Mainly because of proximity to me, but also because they don't f around or overcharge. |
Austin LBS....yeah....
|
my favorite obs is spicercycles.com, although i also have an affinity for businesscycles.com. i also had good dealings with www.worldclasscycles.com and will very likely order from them again, they have good prices and quick service.

Sacramento..
Bicycle business of Freeport. Kinda expensive but as of right now they are the only ones in town who stock track parts. Bikechef on Jst. Just opened with the promise of stocking track parts. |
Anything Montreal or Quebec City specific?
The Urbane Cyclist in Toronto I thought was great the couple times I went there, knowledgeable staff and friendly, no punk rock handshake required. http://www.ucycle.com |
Good idea for a sticky!

Turin Bicycle 1027 Davis Street Evanston, IL 60201 847/864-7660 www.turinbicycle.com -the mechanics really know their stuff; the shop deals Bianchi, Trek & Fuji |
East Bay:
Omafiets (formerly momovelo) on milvia and university great service, kai is awesome to deal with, and super knowledgable. VeloSport, on the corner of MLK and Virginia more retrogrouchy, steel road frames than anything else, but the people there don't suck and have been plenty friendly to me. Bay Area Bikes, 1050 W. Grand Ave. (in west oakland, between adeline and market, the place where i work). admitedly, we don't have a ton of stuff in stock, but we can get most things, plus we have great service. We're currently working toward filling the track gap in the east bay. |
Norman Oklahoma. (lol)

haven't tried any OBS's- the internet (still) scares me.
LBS? Portland Veloshop! Norf Portland Bike Works! and the C.C.C., good resource for workspace and tools and friendly people |
Denver::::>
Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop 313 W. 11th Ave 303-691-5595 www.salvagetti.com Scott, the owner, is a really nice guy and knows his stuff. A lot of messengers use this shop. He reps for GroundUp and Black Sheep custom bikes. His prices are good, and he sells matte. |
OBS
For track stuff I think www.businesscycles.com is the best. Phone in your order. John is very knowledgable and helpful, has fair prices, and ships quickly and cheaply. I also like www.peterwhitecycles.com a lot. Excellent wheel builds, Specialites TA cranks, and Peter is also very knowledgable and helpful. Phone in your order. For the best prices I like www.speedgoat.com ; their shipping is free, but be advised that they don't always have everything in their catalog on hand. LBS (Atlanta) If you want to ride a pista, langster, or a fillmore, www.outback-bikes.com has you covered. I wouldn't look to them for anything else, but just because they've dicked me over more than once doesn't mean they'll do the same to you. No track stuff, but www.atlantaprobicycle.com is great. Stop by if there's something you need done that you could do yourself if you had the tools. Chris'll let you use his. |
San Diego:
Pedal Pushing Bicycle Shop 4966 El Cajon Blvd (619) 583-2043 A selection of new track parts, lots of pickings for conversion frames and parts. Good pricing, and Dave is super friendly and helpful. Usually some cool bikes hanging. Great for getting a conversion built up on the cheap. Thomas Bike Shop 1635 Fern St 619.232.0674 Cool little shop, some nice random track parts, a few beautiful complete bikes hanging, and good friendly help. Adams Ave Bike Shop 2606 Adams Ave 619.295.8500 Higher end parts, caters to local velo riders. Great all around shop. Always willing to help you with a fixed gear. What san diego doesnt have (and I wish we did) is a co-op |
Where in chicago is the best place to pick up used parts?
|
fairbanks, alaska:
untouched... you could be the king! |
http://www.webcyclery.com (Bend, Oregon, woo!) for single speed and trials goodies online. http://www.biketoolsetc.com is out of Ashland, and they have those miscellaneous bits you can't find in the usual places.
In Portland, Veloce (http://www.velocebicycles.com) on Hawthorne has been hooking me up with my track stuff. He also will build a singlespeed, if you ask him. Bike N' Hike on 400 S.E. Grand stocks some track and BMX stuff. Gresham Bike off the MAX line used to stock some trials stuff, but now I think they mostly do BMX and hybrids. |
