Misaligned Minds ride 9/30 Paducah KY

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I are fairly recent transplants to Lake Barkley in Cadiz, Kentucky and we'll be at the Misaligned Minds ride this Saturday. Weather forecasts look great (mid-70s), and this ride is in the middle of BBQ on the River in Paducah so there's lots to see and do.

Anyone else going to be there?

The weather was great (mid 70s, light winds) and the roads had fairly light auto traffic. The only road I would call busy was the road along the north side of the park, and of course I had a flat tire there while returning. I figured I was a mile or so from the finish, so I just walked. I had everything I needed to change the rube with me, but opted not to change it. Tactical error #1. it sure seemed like more than a mile, I'm thinking now closer to 2 miles left. Tactical error #2. I should have just changed it. Changing it at home using thumbs to push the bead over and a single tire lever took less than 10 minutes.

Tactical error #3. I got replacement tires on Friday, I should have taken the time to change tubes and tires on Friday, then the odds of a flat would have decreased significantly. Maybe, maybe not.

Anyway, still an enjoyable ride that could have been better had I just spent a few minutes on Friday swapping tires and tubes. Oh, well. Live and ride some more. Also, my wife did very well. This was her first organized ride and she enjoyed it. Nice folks and well marked routes helped. I jokingly call her "Magellan: for her navigation skills, but I missed a turn that she did not. I will be reminded of that for a long while. We will do this ride again next year.
