2012 Gleneagles Challenge Off-Road - Duathalon

EVENT DATE: April 28, 2012

Bushwhack Adventures is pleased to add the GEC-Duathlon, a trail run / mountain bike event to the Gleneagles Challenge activities in 2012. This off-road duathlon-type event will allow even more people to come out and enjoy the festival atmosphere of the Gleneagles Challenge.

Participants will be traveling a total of 9.3 miles. Estimated distances in each discipline are: running/trekking 4.7 miles and mountain biking 4.6 miles. The run/trek will be on hiking trails, and the biking will be on the Intermediate and Advanced mountain bike trails. This event is not a relay - participants will do both the run and bike.

The specific course route will be posted soon.

The event will start and finish at Wake County's Harris Lake County Park. Check the Schedule below for exact times.

Overall Male and Overall Female winners will get their half of their entry fees back and a 50% discount towards a future Bushwhack Adventures event. Age group awards will be dependent upon sufficient participant numbers.

All participants will get a Gleneagles Challenge pint glass and a Bushwhack Adventures wicking shirt.

Gear List
Participants will be required to have a hydration system (there will be no aid stations on the course), mountain bike and a bike helmet (when biking).

Rules
Participants must follow the prescribed route.
Any additional course rules will be announced at the pre-event briefing.

Schedule (for the GEC-Duathlon)
8:00 AM; Park gates open.
8:00 – 8:30 AM; Participant check-in at field beside the Mountain Bike parking lot (first gravel drive on left inside the park
8:30 AM; Event Start.
10:15am AM; GEC-Duo participants are invited to stay and watch the adventure race briefing, AR Start, and the whole race if you like!

Entry fee is $35. Ask us for the $17 discount if you're also participating in the Sprint AR!

I take it ,that you also have a Gleneagles . Can't you think of your own place names ? Got me interested ,untill I realised it wasn't in Perth Scotland.

Raleigh, NC is just like Perth Scotland.....just on this side of the pond. :-)

It might not be worth the flight over, but if you were nearby it would be fun.

I hope the weather isn't like Perth Scotland, 5-6 deg C, sleet and snow ,strong north easterly wind.
We have been stuck with a northerly airflow for the last two weeks,in March we got warm winds originating in north Africa,this month originating in the Arctic.
Must be nice living on a large land mass.

Yikes! That's not spring, that's still winter! So we will certainly have much nicer temps that that, 23-25C. I recently had 30 big trees taken down from a Scotish lumberjack, so I know some of your countrymen are finding there way over to this side of the pond!
