Fantastic!!! Good cause. This will be my first charity ride and, unless I do one on my own earlier, my first 100 miler(organized or otherwise). I have done many metric centuries and a 75 mile ride solo, but not a mile century. Look forward to possibly seeing you there and others from the forum.

I'm going for the 65 miler. I haven't done a century yet, and right now the longest I've done is 25 miles. I think I can work up to 65 by then, though.

Plan is to be ready for the Cap 2 Cap century a few weeks later.

Received some additional information concerning incentives(recruitment) and some information concerning Rider Welcome Packets--see below.

--------------------------------------------------------------

January Rider Goal - only 30 more riders!

When called to task, YOU were able to help the Hampton Roads, VA Tour de Cure meet a goal – 500 riders by December 31st! Now, we have set a new challenge for the New Year.

On our way to our 1,100 rider goal for 2013, we are taking steps and setting goals each month. With your support we know each goal will be possible! So with 1 day left in January, we need your help to recruit 30 more riders to reach our goal of 625 riders by January 31st!

But what is a goal without a great incentive? If we reach 625 riders by the end of the month, we will enter EVERY registered rider for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.

Ready…Set…Recruit!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Electronic vs. Mailed – Rider Welcome Packets
It has come to our attention that the Rider Welcome Packets have been unexpectedly delayed. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. The National Office is working to get the packets out to everyone ASAP.

Please note: All riders who register are asked about their preference of receiving their Rider Welcome Packet via Postal (hard copy) vs. electronic:

“Your Fundraising and Cyclist Guides will be sent to you electronically. If you also would like to receive event information by postal mail, please indicate yes below.”

Riders who answer YES were mailed hard copies. If you are in need of additional materials to assist you in your Tour de Cure fundraising, please contact Amie Holman at aholman@diabetes . org. Below are a few items you may find useful as well:

Just a hair over 3 weeks until the event. I hope training is going well regardless of the cooler than normal temperatures and windiness. I'll be looking forward to possibly meeting some of you from the BF forums at the event. If you are on Team Red, well have a tent since we raised more than $5,000(so far, Team Red has raised over $14,000 toward the $26,000 goal.). It's not too late to register. Remember, whatever distance you ride, it's for an excellent cause.
