GET-A-GRIP Bicycle Show, Swap Meet, Drags & Poker Run
This show has reached the status it has by great people, just like you, coming out and supporting the bike show and the American Cancer Society. This year will be no different as people come from various other states to join TN in having a great time at the GET-A-GRIP Bicycle Show, Swap Meet, Bicycle Drags and Poker Run.
This year, just like previous years, we have another great Giveaway Bike. This Shelby was purchased a few years bike at Smoopy’s great bike show from a great friend, Josh. It was missing the original fenders and the wheels were not the greatest but the basic frame, tank and front springer forks were all in place to make a great bike. I cleaned up the frame and front Springer, purchase a new 24” Thick Brick Wheel and Tire, purchased a new 26” wheel and tire, purchased a vintage 30’s chain guard, purchased and mounted a used seat, modified a nice set of handlebars I had and added a nice set of black grips. It rides great on the new wheels and tires and will make someone a nice ride. The only problem is, you must be present to win!
Please find attached a flyer for this year’s event and pictures of the giveaway bike. Hope to see you there. March 28, 2015!!!

I went for the first time last year and it really is worth the drive! OK, maybe not if you aren't a little interested in C&V or RatBikes, but the thing is huge! Swap area is surprising in size as well. Creativity of some of the builders is probably worth the drive alone. Do get there early or you will be hoofing it for quite a ways to get to the school/show site. It's on a par with a well-established, well-attended, local level car show, (with bicycles instead). I hope whoever the live band that played was, is back again this year....I guess it was Bluegrass maybe?....but the selections were from AC/DC, Metallica, etc. They were a hoot. The slow drags were not much entertainment; but doing it correctly at speed, should be much more interesting to watch. Don't expect a Corporate manufactures midway, it's not like Southeast Bike Expo or whatever, but I decided that day I was going back this year. Watch the videos, might give you an idea of what types of bikes will be there, not much insight into the flavors of the event though. Has anybody ever seen a Poker Run at a bicycle show? Maybe it's more common than I know, but it was the only one I'd ever heard of. Fairly common at some larger car shows though. Bring whatever bikes you have and hit Enterprise South Nature Park in Chattanooga. The place has trails available for both paved and off road riding. If the show doesn't do it for you maybe a spin thru there would help. GOOGLE it for opening dates and park closing times. I would imagine it's open for the season by now.

Went for the first time this year, sadly I arrived only an hour before the show ended. What I saw the makes me excited and hopeful they have another show next year. I saw some fun builds and events but my favorite part was talking with other gear heads and seeing the diversity of bikes and parts brought. Well worth the trip!
