Lynchburg, Va rides??

I'm new the Virginia area. I'll be in Lynchburg next week and wonder if there is anyone that knows of a few road rides there?

If you're only there for a short trip, I'd hit up the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you start at the James crossing near Big Island, you can go north (pretty easy) or south (pretty hard) up thunder Ridge and then to Peaks of Otter.

You can contact the YMCA and ask for the athletic director. She will tell you of any group rides. If you're riding alone and just need a route, the one mentioned here is one of the best in the area.

If I'm not too late to the thread, check out the Blackwater creek /James river path. Access every mile or so. Ride through an old train tunnel (uber cool) and over Percival's Island. Just my 2c

"Next week" was probably last week... Oh well, it's a nice ride if you end up in Lynchburg again :-)
