I did it 4x back in the late 80's.
Great ride.
Best time 8:09 for the 175 mile course.
12th out of about 600.
But..................
I was MUCH younger then........
Now I have moved away.

That year the ride took 9hrs. I was 34
In 1987 it took 8:09 First 100 miles in 4hrs flat. I hung with the big boys for 125miles, then dropped. (I knew it was a tactical mistake..)
In 1988 we did it in 8:12
1989's ride saw some fierce headwinds. Took 9 1/2 hours, and I decided it was no longer fun.
So, now I live in South Mississippi, about 600 miles away or so.
If I want to ride that far again, I'll do it from home!
But, you go and enjoy!
