Best group rides around Decatur/Atlanta, GA

new to the area and just getting to know some of the popular bike routes. wondering if people in the area have input on some of the different popular group rides. maybe ones you prefer or others I'm not aware of. I'm in Decatur so preference is someplace I can ride to from my house.

* pizza ride starting from avondale out to stone mountain - this is still active and seems like a big group
* decatur cvs ride - not sure if this is still active
* loose nuts cycles in town loop

I lived in Decatur until I retired and moved to west central Florida. I liked riding from my house on the Bike Path to Stone Mtn. I'd do 2-4 laps and ride home. I sure miss the climbs. The only "hills" around here are on the north end of the Suncoast trail.
You can also go to the Southern Bicycle League's website and click on the ride calendar link.

Airport Ride but it runs only in the winter. This is run by MACC which should have other rides listed on their website.

Sky Loop if you want to come out to Hiram on a Saturday morning. ATLBike.org also does a Tuesday night out and back on the trail, 20+ MPH with paceline.

I'm doing a ride Sunday out of Sosebee Cycling Park.

Trish has some routes and information at Southeastern Cycling. She should have more info about intown rides.

My site lists many routes, most further northwest. See my signature.

For the ladies there is Sorella Cycling with some rides listed on their site.

I don't know if Silk Sheets is still a regular ride but many ride the route(s).

I do ride on the Stone Mountain path. My biggest issue with it is all the street crossings and turns. Iíve figured out once I get to church st. I can hop on there and mostly stay on roads after Clarkston for a better ride. Iíll check out the website.

visit your closest bike shops and inquire about their group rides. that's a ways from my area so my info would be irrelevant
