Rock Hill, SC, anybody doing the Cotton Pickin' Metric this weekend?

I'm considering it, but not sure yet.

Also posted in road forum, but figured I'd try over here, too.

My wife and I are signed up for the Metric. We'll be on a Trek T100 tandem.

After 3 rides in the hills of Wilkesboro, Hickory, and Tryon the past three weekends, the CPM should be easy. Pictures of last year's ride show a very flat terrain.

do you have a link to the site?
thanks

Thanks, pigonwa. HEY, did you ride Brett's Ride in Hickory? I saw two tandems....wondering if one of those was you and your wife.

I was at the tour de leaves last weekend. The only tandem I saw was a calfee. Was that you guys?

(Brett's Ride) Yes we were there. We saw at least 2 other tandems other than ours. One was a blue Cannondale and the other was a recumbent. We were on the black Trek T100. (We have upright handlebars and paniers on the rear.) The bike is not too aerodynamic and the rolling resistance is fairly high but we enjoy it and get a fairly good workout whenever we ride.

On the TdL...if you rode the metric you would not have seen us. We rode the half metric so we did not get over to the starting area until after the metric group had taken off.

OK. Yeah, we did the 62. We drafted on the calfee tandem for probably 6 or 7 miles at around mile 40. 2 friends and I rode together. We were dusting them on the hills, but they would catch up quickly on the descents. They were a welcome friend riding behind them on the flats. We finally lost them on a mid-sized climb and that was it for the free ride. It was a nice reliever while it lasted.

We had a few drafters ourselves for about 5-6 miles or so until we hit the 3rd hill and got a little too slow for them. I haven't figured out how to get those guys to take their turn up front. Any ideas?

pj, enjoyed chatting with you and your wife today. Weather turned awesome after the initial cold, huh?

Take care.

GameCockTaco...enjoyed meeting you and the other riders on the metric...The weather did turn out great for the ride. My wife and I were spent after the ride, but extremely pleased that we hung in there to complete our 1st metric.

PJ; Nice to meet you (we chatted at the YMCA rest stop). We had a great ride! It was bitter cold for the start, but turned out to be quite the lovely day. Glad to see that you and your wife made it the whole metric. That is awesome!

Liz
