Mt. Pleasant, SC route question

Motionbased does not have a way to contact posters yet. There's a guy named pwoodbba, who is a rider out of Isle of Palms. He's posted some rides that include a section on the end of the Mark Clark Expressway that connects the Mt Pleasant area to Daniel Island and beyond. I am trying to figure out how he gets on an expressway legally. I'd like to do the routes he's done, but riding my bike on an expressway (even for a mile or two) seems crazy. If anyone has the answer, let me know.
Thanks to all.

I didn't think you could ride on an access controlled Expressway. Not sure about the MC. I want to ride over the Talmadge bridge here in Savannah but it's semi-access controlled. I've heard that you should do it on the weekends and preferably in the early morning to avoid the traffic and possible police confrontations.

He is probably using the new 'Ravenel' bridge that has a walk/bike path on the east side. That is what I would call the south side since it is the ocean side, but hey, I ain't an engineer.

This gives a good map and camera views.....

You can try 'Google Earth' to see how recent the photos are, or check out any of the other bridge pages.

You are right that the new Cooper River Bridge in Charleston has a combined bike/pedestrian path on the side closest to the ocean. But where I am talking about is Hwy 526 coming into Mt Pleasant, which has no such path.
Thanks.
