Yep.... Got out for a ride today after dinner (a few hrs after that is). Did a night ride on the PLB trail. Saw a few other people out but not many. Great ride... It was 48deg when we got back to the parking area.. 17 miles or so... WAY better than joining the fight at Walmart or something dreadful like that...

Well, I have a dirty little confession to make...

I went for a ride Tuesday, and I tried clipless pedals for the first time. Shimano SPD's with Nashbar sandals. Borrowed from a friend.

And I liked them.

GPS track says it all... was pushing 18-20 the whole way.

Nice.. Funky.....

Yep.... Did the trifecta or hat trick of riding today..... Loaded up all 3 bikes I own... Road, Mountain and Tour bike (although only have went on a few over night trips)...

Friend and I went and rode 14 miles in the woods at Caravelle Ranch at a pretty fast pace (for me). Great ride.... PERFECT weather again...

Went back to the bike shop and got the "tour" bike all Blinged out with presents and garland and blinky lights for the Palatka Christmas Parade.. Then four of us took off on the road bikes and did another 14 miles at a pretty fast pace (for me).... We even did a loop in Ravine Gardens...

Got back to the bike shop... Finished Blinging our bikes out for the parade. Could only con ONE other person into riding in the parade with us... DOH!! Had a LOT of fun riding really slowly in the parade....

Pretty nice day ......

Dana's bike all blinged out..

My bike with presents on it...

Kayak being towed in the parade by a 5 wheel tri-cycle thingy..

It's a beautiful chilly day in North Alabama and I did something I haven't done in a long time: I rode from the house where I live, onto back roads. No driving to a starting point. I was riding from work but since that's over I'm getting a new direction in cycling and in life. AWESOME.

Yep.. My first thought when I got up this morning was.... NO WAY not gonna ride today ... Just didn't have the energy... I just kept watching the BEAUTIFUL looking day go by from my living room chair.... Then a friend called and asked if I wanted to go ride with him and his wife. Of course I said yes.... hahah .... Glad I went 20 easy paced miles half of which was in the dark and a bit cold on the toes.... NICE RIDE.... glad I got out of the chair....

Lots of riding this weekend for me. Went camping up at Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs. Friday afternoon we rode the mt bikes on the trails there. They were in great shape and we ended up riding over 8 miles of loops. Perfect weather. Saturday AM we went to the Big Shoals area and road the paved Woodpecker Trail there. Only about 7 miles of paved and then we went into the off road area and did another 7 miles. Managed to get into some sandy areas (I think were were actually on one of the horse trails) but found another cross trail which seemed better. Later that day we rode the trails in the park again and that night we did lots of night riding around the park to look at all the Christmas lights. Great biking weekend.

Got out for another ride today -- after spending all morning unpacking. Will it ever end? We packed for 4 weeks. Does that mean we'll be unpacking for 4 weeks?
Rode the Litespeed on the Withlacoochee Trail from Inverness down to just past Lake Lindsey Rd. I went to see the goats but they were gone. Does anyone know what happened to them? (Picture is from last March)
Did a total of 31.4 miles.

Yep.... The Tuesday night group ride from the shop... Kind offell flat.. But ended up going to the PLB trail with a friend and riding 20 miles at a pretty good pace. PERFECT temps for a night ride too!! Got chased (we think) by a dog on the trail in the dark... Neither one of us actually turned around to see if it was chasing ... We just pedaled faster ... LOL

Most miles I have ridden in a week in a long time... 154....

Yep... Took a lunch time ride.... I loaded up the mountain bike and went and rode in Rice Creek Conservation Area. They are doing some logging back in parts of the area so some of the trails/roads were a bit tore up. But most places I just rode off to the side a bit in the grass instead of in the sand. Over all not too bad. Only a few spider webs blocking the way.. again not too bad. I was warm while in the woods with the trees blocking the wind... But as soon as I got out in the open I was chilled. I mean it was colder during the day today than my night ride last night... Ended up riding about 14.5 miles about 11 in the woods and on the trails... The rest a bit of pavement back to the truck...

I rode on the Suncoast Trail today. First time there. It was very nice. I was surprised to see the $3.00 parking sign. There were no envelopes so I didn't pay.
Rode from the north trailhead to SR50, filled my water bottle and had a snack.
I showed my wife the pictures I took and she liked the one below. Will we be getting an olive tree or two???
Rode a total of 25.2 miles.

[edit] I forgot to mention that all the rollers and short climbs reminded me of the ride from our house in Decatur to Stone Mountain. [/edit]

Rode Monday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, so far. Good lab results on the renal failure, it did not progress at all and the other numbers were great. Ron, those rollers are the fun part here in Florida. Lots of them on my routes around our county (Escambia.) Ride Lots and Ride Safe.

Bill, you're right about the rollers. They are fun. Glad to hear about the lab results and that you got out to ride.
I'm sure I'll be riding the Suncoast Trail more often. I only went south to the first rest area. I've got to see whats farther south, other than more traffic on the cross-streets.

The weather is supposed to be spectacular here today, so in spite of injury I am going to get out and ride. This time of year days like today are too rare not to take advantage of.

Yes, got out or a ride this afternoon on the Withlachochee Trail. Started at Central Ridge Park and rode to Hernando and back. Lost the computer on my road bike a few weeks back and am really missing it. Only about 10 miles or so but we did ride faster than normal. I'm hoping my time in the gym this last week on the spinner will help me increase my speed. Tomorrow we're gonna hit the bike shop so I can replace my computer and then we'll ride. Not sure yet where. Maybe Gainesville/Hawthorne.

Yep... Got out for a ride Friday... Decided it was too nice NOT to ride. Rode to the bike shop in Palatka.. For the whole 14 miles or so into Palatka I had a pretty good headwind... The 16 miles back (alternate route) was pretty fun with a good tailwind... Ended up riding 30 miles. But my bottom bracket started making a slight howling kind of noise on the way in (only when I pedaled). Had Dana check it out... He asked how many miles were on it.... and he gave me that "well DUH!" look when I told him there was almost 8K on it.... So ordered a new bottom bracket... Great ride though!!

Went to the dollar store, picked up a couple gallons of milk. Was only a few miles each way, but it's the first non-leisure ride since I got hurt last summer.

It was awesome.

Did another ride on the Suncoast Trail today. Rode down to the trailhead at Anderson Snow Park. Decided that was far enough as the noise from 589 and the BUSY cross streets reminded me of riding in Atlanta.
Didn't see many riders. Is the trail usually "uncrowded" on the weekend? I expected to see more folks out on a Saturday.
Anyway I rode 37.7 miles.

Ron, the Suncoast Trail is very flat and kinda boring south of Anderson Snow Park. Actually, south of the rest stop at SR 50 it's pretty flat. As you found out, the rollers are only on the north end. You'll find clusters of riders mostly on the weekends, but people start backing off their riding this time of year. Partly due to colder temps and partly due to more wind. The weather has been great so I'm surprised too that more aren't out. I live further south, so road from Starkey Park up to Anderson Snow on Friday morning (50). I try to do rides away from the SC Trail on the weekends since it gets a bit boring after a while.

Boring? Try riding basically the same route from Decatur, GA to Stone Mountain for 12 years.
I like the wind as long as it isn't a strong cross wind. I learned several years ago that the wind and hills are your friends.

I got in a short but needed ride this afternoon, the weather here was nice. It was mostly sunny, no wind to speak of and 73*F. My daughter got in a ride on a section of the Silver Comet with two friends, they rode slow due to her friend having bicycle mechanical woes. She said it was nice there and enjoyable. She gets my R500 in a few weeks when my wife and I go up for a weekend.

Yep... Rode Sunday... Spent the morning cleaning my bikes... Supposed to meet up for the normal Sunday ride at 3pm in Grandin. But I loaded up both bikes (all cleaned) and headed out early. Rode the mountain bike partly on the paved trail and partly in Etoniah Creek State Forest. Ended up with 13.5 miles on the mountain bike. Got back just in time for the 3pm ride in Grandin. Locked up the mountain bike and hopped on the road bike. Ended up riding a bit over 41 miles on the road bike. Rode once with the peeps that showed up at 3pm.. And then rode again with some friends that showed up after 4pm. Awesome weather, friends and ride!!! Ended up with 54.5 miles on the day...

decided I'd try a road ride (not my favorite thing) on Saturday afternoon. We live on a dirt road that is about 1 mile from the main road so I decided that the mb was best for getting down the road. I almost made it but had to walk a short section. Got to the paved road (SW 80th Ave) and headed towards SR200. I really didn't think that there was that much traffic but boy was I wrong. Took a turn into a long winding road that leads to a retirement community and then headed back. Only about 8 miles overall. I just don't think I'll ever get used to riding in the road.
Sunday we decided to load up the bikes and head over to the Nature Coast trail. Started in Chiefland and rode to Fanning Springs and back. Just over 18 miles and a beautiful day. Sure wish this trail was closer. This week, since it gets dark so early, I'll be spinning at the gym until Friday.
