Weather got in my way of some weekend riding by the time I could. Raining pretty much all day today and tomorrow as well.

Got rid of the safety wire holding on my rear most fender brackets.
Flipped the rear fender brackets to the inside and bolted them down.
Removed some metal on both chain adjusters to accommodate bolts sticking outwards and adjustment and ease of removal and installation. Might coat the bolt tips with Plasti-dip, haven't decide yet. I hate bolt threads sticking outwards though, for obvious safety reasons.

Yay. The rain is over so I headed out this morning with the Litespeed. Did my usual ride.

Went for a ride yesterday. Noticed clicking sound. Found fine metal flakes in my crankset and some spots in the retainers weren't packed with grease. Cleaned it all and repacked with Teflon grease. I'll consider it its break in period.
Chain wear at .25% still like it is brand new. Broke chain to put on master link. Noticed outside plate was shiny from inner link rubbing against it. I ****zed out and removed the OEM lubrication. Probably going to regret that. A little dirt but not that much. Running with treated gear oil now. Open gear season. facepalm.

Did a nice late evening ride yesterday for just under six miles. Mobile Social is tonight in Atlanta, so looking forward to that.

Missed the Social by about 15 minutes, so we did an imprompt ride across the Beltline up to Piedmont Park. Had a nice burger for dinner and a nice ride back to MARTA to head home. Got in about 11 miles.

Got onto the withlacoochie trail just after 7.30 and rode North to Inverness from Croom Rittal Rd and back. The humidity was high, but so was the cloud cover which made it a pleasant ride.
No melting for me today, Ron.😉

Weather permitting my bike and I will be turning a 'century' before breakfast.
That is, my bike will have 100 miles on it since it was purchased.

All in all, I got in a bit over 22 miles with the wife this weekend. The farthest she has gone in such a short time.
She is having a lot of stamina problems, likely related to another situation ongoing. Tests are being run...keeping my fingers crossed that it's nothing.

Last nights rain really cooled things off. Got to the trailhead early (first one there ) and rode the Cannondale to the north end of the trail and back. Still "cool" when I got back to the car.

My bike is now one hundred miles old, but a sight better looking than I am.
This calls for a celebration with virtual pancakes.

A little over 16 miles this morning. First solo ride in seemingly forever.
Feels like I am starting out all over again. There have been too many serious lapses in my
riding frequency this year. Partly due to weather,or family commitments,or travel, or ailments........
But the #1 reason is that I just can't seem to get enthused about riding.
Maybe it is due to the decline in my speeds (although since moving 2 years ago, the
changes in topography have accounted for some of that, or, so I tell myself....
South Mississippi is considerably more rolling than Florida...)
If not for my riding buddy I probably would have taken the last 3 months off....
But, he has too much going on with his family now, so I'm on my own and am determined
to put in some miles.Hopefully, quality miles.........

Yeah it is.
I used to mash a couple of big hills on the gravel roads with a Western Flyer.
Sometimes I'd make it up the hill.
Thought for sure the chain would break.

I have to say that I personally feel your situation.

Living in the area I do now, there is no choice but to take on hills every single ride out unless I load up the truck and drive somewhere. Mileage has dropped off to a point for the year lower than what was a respectable month in 12 & 13. Sometimes I just want to take an easy cruise around a flat loop.
I have also been "cracking down"on myself to ride more, and it's helping with the weight, but not the desire.

17.9miles today, about like yesterday's ride.
I have always found the second day back to be the worst, and today didn't let me down!
But, I survived..............
I rode the flattest roads I could find, and had almost 500' of climbing.......
I climb more just getting out of my neighborhood than on most 20 milers that
I used to ride back in Fla............

Usually I had 3 reasons to head out on my Western Flyer. To go to my friends' house, to go fishing and/or to go to the country store. Sometimes all 3. I was stuck right in the middle of two hills, but halfway up one of them.
If I could get a running start out the drive way and make the turn up the hill with some momentum, I could last maybe 50 feet before I was at a crawl. Literally standing on the pedal and balancing the bike and trying to avoid loose sand and rocks. I could see the masterlink go around on my chain. haa ha
Once I got that out of the way it was okay until the next big hill which went down to the creek about 2 miles away.

I learned long ago that water meant hills.....water towers are at the top of hills; streams and rivers
at the bottom. And, when you went down a hill and crossed a stream, you had to climb up on the other side..

But, they are what they are.
I knew the job was dangerous when I took it.

Yeah, we had a big swamp below our house. Razorbacks seemed to like it. Extra snakes to munch on.
Something about the feeding frenzy and the bones crunching was almost disconcerting.

Off the bike again for a while as my leg does what it does...another boil/ingrown hair. Hope it gets better before next week, got Critical Mass again, and then the weekend after that is Dragon Con...makes for some terrific sight seeing riding around the convention center and hotels.

Got to the Hernando trailhead about 7:45. Rode to the north end of the trial and headed back. When I got to the Citrus Springs Road crossing the county was paving the the road. Not nice. I got hot asphalt all over my tires and some on my downtube (which didn't stick fortunately). By the time I got back to the car most of the asphalt had worn off the tires. Last time this happened was when I was living in Atlanta. The county was repaving North Decatur Road and I rode across it when riding on Church St between Avondale Estates and Tucker.

20.1 miles this morn. A little farther; a little faster (less slowly)
Gotta be consistent, but not too strenuous for a while.

That's when I'd have called Sue and asked her to come pick you up.
