An Amazing Bike Tourist now in your region (S.East)...

Hi, Kenneth Payton, who just turned 82, is in the final two weeks of his cross-country tour, from California to Florida, and is now in your area. He believe it's his "last hurrah" in terms of big bike tours, before returning home to take care of his wife, who has Alzheimer's disease.

He's in Mississippi now, on his way to St. Augustine, Fl.

Just thought I'd mention it in any case anybody wants to meet up with him on his way to completing his impressive journey.

Here's his journal at www.crazyguyonabike.com, along with contact info...

https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?...c_id=4767&v=BL

I'm sure he'd appreciate someone buying him a beer when he reaches the coast...a couple of other BFers have met up with him on his way across the country...

BB

That is a fantastic journal. I wish I could buy him a beer but he won't get within a couple hundred miles from me down here in south Florida. I'll be following his trip, though. Thanks.

Wow!!!!! Thanks for posting the link, very cool stuff. He could literally pass within a few miles of where i'm sitting and typing this. Depends on which road he takes. I'll also be following the rest of his trip. Now I feel bad because I didn't make time for a ride today..... sigh...

Yes, the Southern Tier route goes through Palatka! A lot of tired West to East riders pass through there.

I have been watching his progress too. For us 'desk tourers' the CGOAB website gives hours of good reading. I am looking forward to seeing him and many others complete their goals.

Safe riding, Mark

This is really a great accomplishment and I hope nothing gets in the way of completion. I have been and will be following his progress along with many others. If you haven't done so go to his guestbook and wish him good luck or just send a friendly message.

I used to ride SR207 from St. Augustine to Palatka a lot a few years ago. And now that you mention it I do remember seeing quite a few touring riders going towards St. Augustine.

Damn - I'd be happy to still be able to go on a local group ride at that age let alone do a cross country ride.

Kudos!!!
