Anyone going to this, or ridden it before? I'll be riding the metric and staying in the dorms the night before. Curious to see if any other BF members were planning on going as well.

When is it? Anything very steep or just lots of climbs?

Sorry, I knew I forgot something https://www.mhc.edu/hotdoggett/
It doesn't look too rough, but we'll see. In any event, this Floridian will be doing the metric just to be safe. Also, it's only $25 to stay in the dorms at Mars Hill the night before.

Since I live here in north Asheville I get to ride the routes some. The metric is not to bad. The full century is pretty tough. You have to climb Sams gap with about 88 miles in... ist about a 5 mile climb.
look at the profile. The century is FUN!!! but tough!!!

This is our hometown! Unfortunately we'll be cycling in Alaska for two weeks during this time. We'll have to wait until next year. It has been extremely wet this year,(we've been in a drought for the last 2+ years) with lots of creeks overflowing their beds, so watch out for gravel/mud on the roads.

You should go down to Marshall eat @ Bacchus Bistro either the night before or after. It's an Italian restaurant with good beer, pizza, and Italian comfort food. You'll pass through Marshall on the race. Good Luck!

I wish I'd seen your post earlier. I rode the metric last year and "finished" the Century this year. A most beautiful ride with lots of climbing...what did you think of it?

I loved it, and I should have done the century. It was my first experience climbing mountains, so I didn't quite know what to expect. The scenery was unreal, and I want to go back already.
