Charlotte, NC - Commuting from Ballantyne to Downtown

My office is relocating to the downtown area in December and am looking for some advice on which roads to take or if someone else out there is doing a similar commute.

Thanks and ride safe,

Jeff,

I don't commute into center city, but I occasionally ride down there and used to do it quite often.

Not knowing exactly where you are I would say from the Ballantyne area you might consider Rea Rd over to Colony Road, then Roswell throught the Queens University area. Then you would have to zigzag on side streets until you are uptown.

Colony has a bike lane on much of it once you get past the Rea Rd. turn off at the shopping center.

I found Rea from hwy51 to the Colony turn to be the most congested and difficult. Between the rolling hills and the traffic, but it only last a mile or so before you get to Colony then it thinned out and the bike lane helped. Just consider Rea Rd your interval training for the day.

Good luck!

Route Suggestion

Many thanks for the quick reply. I'll give that route a test run in the next week or two. Appreciate the advice.

There are a lot of routes, just google "bike routes in charlotte" and look for CABA etc. colony and rea will get you up to queens (booty loop) and its easy from there.

good luck!
