Question about Greenville SC area bike mechanics.

Restoring my 70s paramount - but as a workable ridable bike. Just cause it ain't sleek by todays standards, it got me around just fine for many many miles.

Need to know who does good wheelwork? Wheels are well maintained but have some loose spokes probably from being banged around in storage but the rims should be good. I used to do this but I don't have a stand and want some insight on the old rims and spokes

The rear was rebuilt in 78 on a bike trip in Eugene Oregon and I rebuilt the front in 80-the back has old union spokes, the front DT stainless -the back is the one with some loose spokes - I used to work as a bicycle mechanic in a high end bike shop but that was many years ago but still don't want my bike messed up...

Hubs still just fine - Campy NR high flange.

May wind up putting new rims on (old Weinmann Concaves with no hook for tire beads) anyway but want an impartial assessment.

Plus - I am going to have some other works needs done on a tandem - some minor brazing (cable stop type stuf) and repainting and definitely new wheels for that one. They may have to stay 27 due to the Cantilever brakes - which will be a challenge; I would rather go 700c. [so I want to talk about moving the brake bosses]

Will be easing back into it and my husband and I will probably buy some cheap hybrids for banging around - it has been way too long.

Tom Howard at The Great Escape. He used to be at Lowcountry Bicycles here in Beaufort, but moved to Greenville two years ago. He built two sets of road wheels for me when I was over 300 pounds and they haven't gone out of true yet.

Well, I called them and am taking my wheels in there tomorrow.

Done - wound up taking the frame in - cant find my BB tools, dont want to risk dry grease on 25 years of non-use on campy NR stuff - so he is overhauling the whole thing.

Seems like a nice fellow. He smiled when he felt the bearings in my hubs said *nice*
