Tampa Bay: New bike path connecting Courtney Campbell to Cypress St

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/424036

I stumbled across this a couple days ago and checked it out last night. Its a lot better than riding on the shoulder of Memorial Highway, which is what I was doing once the most recent incarnation of this interchange was finished last year. Most of the pavement appeared to be a few years old. I think it's a bit of the old Memorial Highway shoulder connected to an access road.

I thought I read something about this a couple of months ago in the St. Pete Times. I also thought that it was part of a bigger project to build some kind of trail across the Causeway to Pinellas Co.

Cool, I'll look into it. With the frontage roads paralleling the majority of the causeway, it's close to a full path now. The biggest obstacles are obviously the true bridge portions that span the water.

Here is an article discussing the proposed trail you mentioned.

Yes, that's it! It will be pretty exciting to see when its finished.

It's still a pity they couldn't find funding to save the Friendship trail.

I can't wait until this project is finished. I have been bicycling on the Pinellas Trail for ten years and would love to be able to bicycle into Tampa occasionally. If you're riding on the shoulder of the Memorial Causeway you have bigger stones than I got. Motorists on Rt. 60 will run you over even if you're driving a motor vehicle 10 mph below the posted speed limit.

This is interesting! It's the first time I have heard about it. Where does it start on the Tampa side, around Eisenhower Blvd or after that? Where does it end on the Pinellas side?

I wouldn't to on the CCC on a bike if the prize was a million bucks. I live three miles from Flatwoods and I don't ride on Morris Bridge road for the same reason. Drivers here are too busy paying attention to everything but their driving.

I got a chance to try it out this weekend. Not terribly scenic but it did provide a good juncture around the airport to Town and Country. I then went up George Ave. to the Town and Country Greenway trail eventually making my way over to the Upper Tampa Bay trail. Not a bad route for an early Sunday morning ride.
