State Sen. Stephen Wise again trying to allow ads to Florida trails... REALLY??
Wow advertising on trails? I like riding the trails to get away from advertising and cars and all of the other stuff that goes with riding on the roads. Don't get me wrong I ride the roads too, but I don't want all that while out riding in the woods.
I guess I would not mind some sort of advertising at the start of a trail, at the trail head or something. If it does raise some money for the trails. But NO way do I want the whole length of a trail plastered with signs. http://jacksonville.com/news/florida...florida-trails |
Agreed. Seems like our legislature/Senate could come up with better ways to cure our budget deficit ills in our fine state than advertising in the outdoors. Maybe if we took away some of their expense stipend we'd get to the same place with a more pristine environment!!

I'm sure the fees charged wouldn't be designated for trail maintenance or anything related - it would just go into the general fund.

Maybe a sign on a steep down hill mountain bike trail that says "This downhill section is brought to you by Band-Aid" ..... So when your reading the sign your not looking where your going and crash??

Well, it's already pretty clear the current FL government has no concept of "nature". The land is to be exploited for its maximum potential. Depressing...

But honestly, I sure hope this does not happen. One of the reasons I ride is to just get out in the outdoors and enjoy the peace, quiet and nature. Guess that's one reason I prefer riding out in the preserves on the mb vs Greenway paved trails. |
