Cliffs Communities?
 

For those who don't know, the Cliffs Communities is a private real estate company in the southeast that has recently snatched up (recently being within the last thirtyish years) beautiful land, mtns, valley, etc. and developed housing communities on them. The bad thing about this...the roads they created on these mtns are avg cat. 2-1 climbs on average...with average grades of about 6-11%. I am craving these hills, and I know they would be beneficial in becoming a more competitive cyclist.

The only problem, is every entrance is gated (except for one...but it is Hell getting there).

This topic is mainly for those who have direct relation to the Cliffs (living/working there) or people who have found their way around the system. What do I need to do to gain access to these fairly beastly roads?

Doesnt Hincapie live in one of those communities? I thought he was over near paris mountain (montebello) but now I have my doubts. I too would love to ride "behind the gates"... Membership would have its privledges...

Not sure about Hincapie. I always thought he lived downtown. I have heard that Michael Jordan, Kevin Costner, and Oprah own real estate. Tiger was supposed to, but I don't think it came through

Hincapie did live downtown, but for the last few years lives in Montebello when in Greenville. As you might imagine, he spends a great deal of time in Europe, and I think his house is in Spain. Hincapie was involved with Cliffs back when they first started their "wellness" campaign. I don't think much came out of that relationship.

Jim Anthony, the owner of Cliffs, is known best by cyclists for closing down some of the best mountain bike trails in the area so he could develop his communities adjacent to his properties.

I heard some type of bankruptcy happened with him? May have heard that wrong.

Branching from the mtn bike trails, yes he did...but in the process he created three great climbs on Glassy alone.
