Repairs and construction done on the Palatka Lake Butler Trail!!

The construction and repairs to the trail are finally done!!! Almost 19 miles of paved trail from Roberts Lane on the east end to SE 57th St on the west end through Keystone Heights. The trail is finally long enough to make a day of it... Not to mention there is another 6 miles of paved trail up to Gold Head State Park. Even better if you head up that way is the 3 or 4 miles of winding curving roads in the park!!

LOTS of room to park on the east end by Roberts Lane. More parking near the traffic light in Florahome. About right in the middle is Grandin (315 & State Rd 100) with a little bit of parking by the fence. You can also park by the awning at the church in Grandin if there is no services going on. A great place to park is just east of Keystone Heights at Twin Lakes Park. Covered picnic tables, bathrooms, water, playground for the kids. You can also park at the western end at SE 57th St.. There are some smaller spots along the way where people park too..

It really is turning into a great trail!!!!

A week ago while riding the trail a friend said.... "I just saw Santa in a tree back there".... We turned around and somebody had put a little Santa ornament in the tree, along with a couple of other ones. Well.... We have decided to make it the "Trail Christmas Tree"... From now until Christmas each of us are going to hang an ornament on the tree when we ride. I forgot to take a photo this week... But about 5 more ornaments were added just this weekend!! Sooooo If you do come and ride the trail... Bring an ornament and add it to the tree... Take a photo too!!

I forgot to say where the trail Christmas tree is. It is about a half mile east of CR 315 & SR 100 in Grandin. It is on the north side of the trail just WEST of the 20 mile marker on the trail.

Great to hear this. Hubby and I have been talking about camping at Gold Branch again but I was hoping to wait until they finished this trail. Sounds like something we need to do before the end of the year. Thanks for letting us know.

Great news. Thanks for the update on that!
I'm looking forward to getting back up there again and riding it. If we can manage it before Christmas, so much the better.
