Three/Six Gap 2013
Almost perfect weather for riding this weekend. Did any of you adventurous souls travel to Dahlonega and ride Six Gap (or three gap)?
|
I did three gap yesterday and the Cat 5 crit on saturday. Beautiful ride. A little cold for me since I had no leg or arm warmers but it got better afterwards. I have to say it has been top 3 on my favorite rides. I forgot how much fun it is to go up those gaps. Going to try to make it there every weekend for training. Next year I'm tackling the 6 gap for sure.

Definitely try all six gaps next year, or whenever you can. Hogpen is waiting for you. |

I've been wanting to ride that event for years but it just hasn't worked out yet. It will be on my "must ride" list for next year, but this year I reckon the Tour de Tugaloo is the only GA event I will make. Not a climbers event, but very good nonetheless.

So far I've been training in the BBC route in Cartersville but the mountains are a better way to get fast and strong quickly.

If you deviate from the BBC route (my neighborhood) just a tad, you can climb Johnson Mountain. It's not as long as the any of the gaps, but it will get your attention, especially from the front (Hwy 411) side. Do you ride out of the brewery or Sosebee Cycle Park?
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Soseb...16245545103530 PS. Out of the three I've done this year 6/3gap blows everything out of the water. Followed by GA400 then BBC. I think BBC was ruined due to weather. It could have been great. |
