Trying to Sell Some Bikes

Hey Guys,

I have some entry level tandem bikes that Im trying to sell. Would you guys happen to know hows the best way to get the word out??

I'd post an ad in local bike shops, maybe email the contact on a few large clubs such as PAA.

What sizes are the bikes? I'd be interested in a tandem for a short captain (48-50 cm in front).

Local shops might not be interested unless there is something in it for them. Large club members might not be interested in entry level bikes. Instead, I recommend Craigslist.

Potential buyers will want a test ride. Meet them at the longest cul-de-sac in your area. Take a picture of their vehicle and license plate. Take a picture of their driver's license. Tell them to ride in the cul-de-sac only, and stand at the entrance to the cul-de-sac so you can block them if they try to go outside.

Be prepared for low-ball offers by email. Cash only.

I've sold 4 bikes recently and the key is pricing. I price my bikes in the range they are selling not what I want or what I "think" they are worth. The biggest problem I see with sellers is they want what the bike is worth and not what people are willing to pay. It's a buyers market and you have to accept that and just take a loss sometimes.
