I need a welder in Huntington Beach

Hi guys-
I'm now in Huntington Beach heading north and I noticed today that all that weight I've put in my front basket has caught up to me (no, I'm not using a handlebar bag to tour). On one of the two hooks, one of the two rods has detached from the basket. I need it welded back on before the basket breaks off, if this is even possible. New baskets cost too much (I checked out the prices yesterday at a store). Does anyone know someone who could do this? Maybe a regular mechanic with a mini-torch?

thanks for any help!

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

Offhand I can't help you, but IME the best place to find low ciat welders with good skills is in a motorcycle repair joint. I used the term "joint" advisably because I don't mean a fancy motorcycle shop that sells new bikes, but one of those dirty, messy, grease under the fingernails places that the denim/leather jacket crown hangs out at.

Muffler shops frequently weld thin wall materials. I'd be glad to help, but I'm in Indiana freezing

Welding in Huntington Beach would be on Gothard Street. That is parallel to Beach Blvd.

I'd be looking for one of those Mexican exhaust shops - I've seen some of those guys weld things back together, that I didn't think was possible....... and if you look poor enuf, they would probably slap you on the back and wish you well!

Well, actually, people from any poor country generally can fix (and better) what we wouldn't bother to. Look at what happens to all our electronics. Africa for resalvaging!

Photos would be helpful, but I can probably give you a hand. I'm in Costa Mesa.
