Driver being prosecuted for trying to run cyclist off road

Jerk Driver Who Ran Cyclists Off Glendale Road Charged With Assault, Lying To Police: LAist

I've almost been hit at least 2 times in that same spot. Bottom of a winding hill and cyclists are usually traveling over the posted speed limit yet drivers still try to squeeze you off the road.

Damn! I need a video camera.
I've come down Chevy Chase a couple of times, looping back thru Eagle Rock to Pasadena, and never gone over 30mph.....I think because the wind blows up that canyon and reduces my speed.....Your experience my vary.
I am not "kitted out" so maybe this assault is on the racer types. I don't know.
But, I can say for sure there is a different type of driver mentality toward bikers in that area....and it's not a positive one.
Good riding skills between those 2 on the bikes!

I'm glad to see things like this publicized! Too many bicyclists getting pushed around on the roads. I know I had a recent encounter with a driver who almost hit me and then gave me the finger- even though I was on the sidewalk at the time!

I definitely need a camera too. Riding in Glendale regularly I could have a feature length movie worth of idiots by now

Wow, that's scary.

I was harassed by a pickup truck Saturday-- The driver went by really close and blew the horn at me. I was pretty far to the right and not moving that fast (15 MPH). There was plenty of room to go by me.
This isn't the first time I've been harassed-- I've had people hanging out of windows shouting at me, people cutting me off on left turns, etc...

I guess I'll have to get a camera as well.

So his arraignment is in 2 days? Is that right?

It's nice to see the police take this so seriously. Man, I even HAVE a gopro but I rarely charge it up to ride. I need to start doing that.

Hard to imagine how hard it must be for a guy in an Audi to get away from a cyclist. I'd be skeered too.

He said he honked at the cyclist as he drove by, and then he heard something hit his car. He said he tried to immediately pull over because he thought a collision occurred.
"In fact, I tried to slow down and then my attention was all on this guy assaulting me. I was just trying to get away from him," the driver said.

Got cameras in both directions. yes, I can relate to Glendale driving idiots. The clincher was in the Mall where the Ralphs is, and watching some idiot zoom down one of the parking rows at, say 30+? Anyone walking would've been roadkill. It goes the same for those thin residential streets, used as racetracks by the "locals"

Looking forward to the expression on this driver's face when he's led away in cuffs and an orange jumpsuit.
