Santa Barbara Endurance Ride
Hello all, I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this possible ride but I don't think anyone outside of So Cal would respond in another forum. I am thinking of combining two routes from Southern Ventura County to Santa Barbara and return the same day. I am seeing if anyone is interested in joining me.
Details
Start at Moorpark Amtrak Station at 8:15am (first arrival from the south)
Ride rolling rural course of 80 miles to Santa Barbara Amtrak where there is a great pub for lunch. if some riders want to call it a day jump on the train south.
Ride 75 miles completely flat along the coast but with a fair amount of traffic, 99.9% good roads. Back to Moorpark just before dark with at least a couple of trains still to catch south.
I have done both of these courses several times but never the same day. Usually take the train one way and start from home adding about 25 miles to either leg.
Maybe Aug - Sept when the weather is perfect.

I'm thinking about doing this same ride to SB, although returning to Moorpark on the train (probably the 2:10 pm). Are you thinking of going through Ojai or dropping to Ventura and following the coast? I've ridden Conejo Valley to SB coastal route. That was roughly 72 miles, leaving around 7 and arriving there at 12:30. My family drove up so we could all have lunch and then drive home together.

Average of 15/16 will be a bit steep for me, I usually end up in the 13's/14's. Good luck, have fun!

Make sure you post an update closer to the actual departure day. Depending on my crazy kid's schedule I'm up for it.

hello
That's a great route. We used to take that route to SB starting from the Van Nuys station and taking the train back to VN.
