Not sure of their credentials, but they listed the "best 20".

I don't know....the descriptions come off as advertising to me.

My reaction too.
Westlake Village is NOT in Los Angeles. And Westlake Cyclery is NOT in LA County.
If the survey is going to reach so far West, why not include Win's Wheels in Agoura Hills.
First, Agoura Hills is IN LA County. Second, and most importantly, the people at Win's Wheels are true wrenches, in every sense of the word. Nothing fancy, just a bunch of guys who know how to work on bikes.
Oh well.
The folks who put together this survey are located in Seattle. Perhaps we should write to them and offer them a brief lesson in SoCal geography. Not ALL of SoCal is Los Angeles.
Here is their address:

If it is indeed advertising, I have not seen this type of advertising since the original dotcom boom.

Non omnino gravis
As a lifelong resident of the Inland Empire, I'm used to this sort of "all inclusive" are treatment-- so long as it's east of LA County and North of OC/SD, most elements of the media consider it part of the Inland Empire. I saw a magazine listing Indio and other high desert locales as part of the I.E., and... yeah, no.
So I get the ire of the LA folks when they include Thousand Oaks and Tustin together lumped in as "Los Angeles." Why not throw some North County SD shops on there, too?

Well, you can go with "LA County", which is sort of the Inland Empire treatment but even if you go with that interpretation, that article is narrowly focused on one geographical quadrant.
