Roadie friendly places to eat in Seal beach/ Hunington beach

Just started road riding again, via SGRT" rode to Seal beach then PCH to Hunington pier and back
to Liberty park. While in Seal beach my friend spotted Ballast Point restauraunt you'll see it when you
end the ride in Seal beach on the right hand side looks tempting to stop and have a brew and some grub"
we really wanted to stop by and eat in their outside patio but hostess said we could not bring in our
bikes because others in the past have scratched up furniture while parking their bikes out in their patio.
You can however lock your bike outside in the front, their is a designated area to lock your precious bikes.
I don't think I want to carry my lock around for a 40mi. ride, I guess my question is you local riders can you
suggest any roadie friendly places to grub whether it's brkfst. or lunch? and can bring your bike into a patio
or at least have your bike visible within 5ft. Just a newb. trying to get some grub to refuel on some real food.

If you're riding alone, its going to be difficult. In a group, its one rider or two that's designated to watch over the bikes outside of the patio.

Refueling doesn't mean a long rest period to eat a full meal and to have a lengthy conversation. Too many weekend guys take over a half-hour to do this. Are you there to talk about Froome not winning one stage?

On well supported century rides, you see what's offered on those stops. That's about it.

I usually don't stop for a real meal on my solo ride. I did have tried the following places while riding solo:

1. Brix at Sunset Beach by PCH
2. Secret Spot at Sunset Beach by PCH
3. Gypsy at Belmont Shore by bike path
4. "Too Sweet" at Balboa Island (another ~10 mi from HB Pier one way). The frozen banana is heavenly on a hot summer day.

Most of the time you'll have a strong tailwind from Seal Beach to Liberty park, but a headwind, particularly later of the day, from Newport to Seal Beach.

Thanks, this is just to stop by after the ride, before heading back to Liberty park, usually ride with one or two friends. Don't mind stopping if I know where 8mi. from our cars.

sugar shack on main st in Huntington beach has outside seating and sees a lot of roadies. At the very end of the SGRT theres a little place to eat, not sure of the name of it but it overlooks the ocean.

I've ridden to and eaten at The Hangout right at the pier in Seal Beach. I think we were able to keep an eye on the bikes from our seat. Also Killarney's on Main street about a block in from PCH in Huntington Beach has a big patio so you can sit next to your bike.

If I am going on a ride where I may stop to really eat, I carry a self-retracting ski cable lock, light weight, smooth plastic package that fits comfortably in the jersey pocket. These are locks to "keep honest people honest". It's long enough to go thru the frame, front wheel and around a pole or chair and will keep someone from grabbing the bike and running off with it. So if you are within eyesight of the bike you are pretty safe this way.

Last year a friend and I wanted a real lunch and we stopped at Open Sesame on 2nd St in Belmont Shore (about 9 miles from Liberty Park). Really good Lebanese/Greek food. We sat in the patio and hung our bikes on the outside part of the gate. See photo in Google link.

Forgot, a group of us stopped at Yucatan Grill (Mexican & Caribbean) on Marina Dr. just off PCH in Seal Beach a couple years ago. They have a room off the sidewalk to the right as you walk in the front door. They let us bring our bikes inside there.

Five Guys on PCH and SGRT has a small outdoor patio. River's End at the end of SGRT has tons of cyclists, mostly outside seating. Check out their hours, they have limited hours during winter months.

Bogart's Coffee in Seal Beach, on Ocean Ave across from the Seal Beach Pier. Also Pierside Sandwich Shop right next door. Both are frequented by cyclists - especially Bogart's. Park your bike right in front.

Welcome back to cycling. I have to put a second shout out to Pierside Press across from the pier on the south side next door to Bogarts. On a warm day his fresh squeezed Orangeade is amazing! His sandwiches are good, too. No place to eat right there on the spot unless the bench out front is empty, but there's a huge greenbelt across the street where you can go to eat. Nice younger man (early to mid 30's would be my guess) owns or runs the place, super friendly guy. His name is escaping me.

We enjoy riding to Javatinis on Main Street in Seal Beach. It's a couple of blocks away from the pier, and while it definitely attracts bike riders, they're just part of the crowd. They have great drinks and snacks, and it's a great place to people-watch and enjoy the Seal Beach vibe.
