Check in here!

Hey guys, been a while. Who's still signing on to these boards. I've been reading about once every six months and haven't seen much activity. Let's see if we can get some old school fun discussion on here. If we get lucky, maybe the Mayor of the Santa Ana River may pop in to say hi! Only person I know of is Lesper (Loren) as he lives by me and I see his insane 200 mile rides on Strava on the weekends.

I think I rode with you guys partially on one of the pizza port rides a few years ago.

Hey Ooga!
s'up? haven't seen you on here much in the last few. but then again, there are some posters that have
drifted away. the optimist in me would like to believe some of those that
don't post/rarely post anymore are simply too busy riding. the realist in me believes that the commitments
of life have cut into their spare riding/posting time. the pessimist in me believes that they all (gasp!)
converted to doing triathlons (shudder).

the one thing that hasn't changed is that while there is occasionally some good-natured ribbing, it rarely,
if ever gets snarky or mean and has always been generally helpful. can't say that about some of the other forums.
maybe it's the sunshine and the year-round riding. i've definitely followed some of the route advice posted
in this forum over the years and found it sound counsel.

For me, If I'm not riding I'm not coming in here. Probably some sort of guilt thing....

And for riding, I don't ride outside more than once a week anymore due to time constraints.. I ride every Wednesday morning at 4 AM with a neighbor and committed to every fourth Sataurday - All the rest of my rides I do on zwift. I've been doing 3-4 zwift rides a week.

I'm still here though I rarely post anything and life has been getting in the way of riding lately. Or maybe that's just an excuse. Maybe a BF ride is what's is what's needed to kickstart some chat in this forum.

One of the main instigators of chat in the SoCal forum was Mr. Beanz, and since he was banned it's been much less lively. I occasionally look at his blog, but to be direct, I'd much rather see that content here on this forum rather than having to go and look at it on a separate Web site. Since the moderator with whom Beanz had a dispute has passed, maybe Beanz and BF could bury the hatchet and he could resume his SART threads on this subforum.

I'm around but being an old guy (67) I spend more bikeforums.net time on the 50+ forum.

Still ride GMR/GRR a lot, Crystal Lake, Angeles Crest. Only did four double centuries this year so turning into a real slacker in that regard, though I rode strong and really enjoyed the Knoxville Double.

Still having fun riding my bikes!

I'm here! I frequently ride on the SART and Coyote Creek. I have a couple of lunch time routes through Long Beach, too.

Pedal on!

I still lurk but health has kept me off the bike for over a year now. I agree, it would be fun if this forum would return to how active it was in the good old days.

Still here, I made it a point not to come here when this place turned into a death notification, that's just something I don't enjoy reading. Its much better now since we've transitioned to complaining about homeless people.

This place was a very active community, at least one ride a month. I remember Rick@OCRR, UMD and Beanz (both banned now) and there was a guy that did a ton of ultras and RAAM who posted with his girlfriend.

It fell apart when a rider was upset the fast riders dropped the slow ones during an organized ride, then the Ultra Guy and his gf broke up, and the last straw was Beanz being banned.

I'm under the impression that I started riding and joined this forum after the "good old days" had already passed.

I've turned into a total slacker-- I only ride 5 or 6 days a week now.

Beanz had posted about being banned, but it looks like he took that post down. Maybe his heart is softening toward BF? His beef was with the moderator Tom, it seems, so maybe the other moderators would reconsider the ban?

I think they were annoyed with him for a few things, including some of the photos of ladies at the beach which he posted from time to time.

How you doin', Leatherneck?! Glad you're still riding and kicking up dust.

Still around, not checking in as often, nor riding as much as I'd like. Spent the summer moving and fixing up new place. Seems like everyone put their bikes away after Armstrong had his little chat with Oprah. Fine with me, I was a rider before him and I'll always be one. Got a new gf, a new dog, a new condo, and I built up a couple of track bikes, but have been too busy to get down to the Velodrome, despite paying the dues.

Would love to have another group ride sometime when it cools down. GMR? Coastal SD County?
