This may sound strange but the reason I don’t is I do not believe it is a sustainable business model. To charge a one-time fee will generate inconsistent cash flows. There may come a critical-path time when the new revenue does not exceed expenses.
So, I would rather use the advertiser model. I click the ads at every opportunity. I feel this will provide more consistent and long-term revenue.
If it were an annual fee, I might subscribe.

Done.
Star me.
Even if bf.net folds next month, I've more than received $25 worth of information here. The friends I've made alone are priceless.

I don't expect to get rich running this site, but upgraded memberships, googles adsense ads and affiliate links have been paying for the site for 7 years now, it seems to be rather sustainable. Costs to run this site have gone from $25 a month to over $1200 a month. The site was in the red for the first few years I havent had a loss in the last four.

By the way, there's nothing stopping you from making contributions above and beyond $25. I know many members have, and I've been considering it myself. I know I sure do take up more than my share of bandwidth!

Done. Not sure how long it takes for the star to show up. In fact, I don't recall putting anything into Pay Pal that said my membership name...duh, probably skipped a step. I guess I'll send a PM to Joe with the payment info.
I'm actually pretty ashamed that it took me this long to do it. Joe's done a very cool thing here.

But the point I was trying to make, imagine if television stations offered a one-time fee for ad-free viewing. Initially, gobs of revenue would come in but then it would start to taper yet production costs would rise.
So, Joe, I have no problem with the fee, just continue to give me the ads!!! Perhaps make it optional for Red-Star's. Your success is all of ours success.
[Edit] Hey, where is my star?

my fitness board is $7.00 for 6 months or $12.00 a year if you choose to pay.... but that gets you not only the fitness boards... but ALL the forums on that system....

I'll be doing a minor upgrade to the software in the upcoming weeks, at that point donating members will beable to turn some or all ads on or off. Until then, your stuck without seeing any advertising.
