Just picked up some arm warmers. I was a bit skeptical about them, but everyone here seemed to recommend them... and everyone was right. They are perfect.

Recovery is going very nicely. The acute pain is almost all gone. I hope that the bones are knitting on the fast side of the predicted 4-8 week range. The doctor doesn't want me on the road for another week and a half. Don't know if my credit card can stand this convalescence period -- been buying too much stuff on the web. :eek:

I will definitely get on the trainer this weekend. Time to cue up the old TdF DVDs. Hope to be 100% (skeletally) by Joshua Tree. I know that I will be sporting some unwanted poundage. :( At least I'll be riding. :)

Arm warmers are my most often used cool weather accessory.

I love my arm warmers. I used them yesterday morning and they did their job just right. :)

no doubt i'll be wearing mine AND leg warmers tomorrow morning! i have several in different colors! and i need (want) some pink ones, too!

Have you seen the Primal Wear ones? They make you look like you have a tattoo sleeve.

like the t-shirt... i really do NOT like those arm warmers... i've seen them in person and on people... they are... uhm.... yucky! lol!

I thought they were just cut-off tube socks. I bought a pair of Pearl Izumi, and they are awesome.

The fit is a bit snug for me, but I need to lose weight anyways. The zipper is not as smooth as I wanted it to be.

Same size as your jersey (assuming theyr'e from the same brand). Unless you have skinny/big arms.

Yes it would! You should get the Shimano compact (Ultegra quality, but not labeled as Ultegra) instead. :p

470 miles later, I've never dropped the chain or had trouble with shifting chainrings.

But the double is only $200. I guess what's $50 more for the compact, right?

I think I can use the bearing cups from my Truvativ.

Lemme see... I "paid" $267 for mine, including BB. Actually, I got it in exchange for the OEM FSA carbon 53/39 cranks and BB and got a $3 refund since it was slightly cheaper.

That's a great deal. I can either price match at $250 now, or what until Performance has another 20% sale and get it for $208.

Personally, I think for riders like you and me, a compact makes great sense. A 50 chainring puts us in the middle of the cassette for flat ground efforts at a cadence of about 90-100, and there's plentiful low range (especially with a 12-27) for the big climbs. You lose only half a gear on the low end compared to a triple (30/25 low gear), and you lose only one gear on the high end (but I can still pedal to about 45 MPH/~145 RPM). The half gear loss on the low end is tolerable, and on the high end, I'm generally tucked and coasting by then anyway.

I actually wouldn't be losing anything from the 36. Just a couple extra upshifts when going to the small ring.

Voltman, I thought you already have a compact?

I think the external bearing cups are compatible, but I'd just change it to the Shimano one if you switch. They are sold as part of the crankset anyways.

I don't think I can do much to my bike. The carbon accessories don't really match my matte silver alu frame.

Searching high and low for a place that carries Nike arm warmers, to no avail. Not about to spring for them on their website for $38 shipped. Incycle in San Dimas had just got their Specialized ones in (brand-match for my bike), but only in M or XL, and I'd like a large. The other two Incycle stores don't have any at all. So I'll head over to Performance later on today and pick up a set of PI Therma Fleece's . . . unless any of you have any better suggestions . . .

Never seen the Nike arm warmers...

Just got the PI therma fleeces for $19.99 at performance last week. There were two different prices on the shelf tags, though, $19.99 and $23.99. I told them that, and they gave them to me at the lower price.
