Mr. Beanz is coming to GMR! SO WHAT, you say!

So what? So I have a support vehicle that will meet me at the second gate 8 miles in! Which is the portion that is opened to cars. Gina says she'll drive the truck up if enough people are interested. She's pretty much a pro at roving the course. She'll have floor pump, water, maybe G-ade and Fig Newtons. Faster riders reaching the gate will be welcomed to wave her down as she makes her way to meet me, if needed.

She meets me at the gate then follows me but sweeps the course up and down looking for riders in trouble. Came in real handy on the GMR rain ride!

By a show of hands, let me know if you'd feel better having a vehicle available. If not, it would be a waste of time and gas as I am a self sufficient rider. Remeber, it's s'posed to be nearly a hundred degrees!

If there is a vehicle already signed up, let me know. The GMR thread is too long to read every post! You SoCal people!

Does anybody know if GMR is opend to auto traffic from the village end? Now that I think about it, I saw about 20 motorcycles up there on Saturday, but only 1 car. Guess it would be tough getting a truck up there if it aint open.

Gina and I didn't go all the way to the village and don't know if the gate is open to cars. Anybody know?

That gate was open on the 12th. It's about a 20 mile drive to the GMR/GRR gate via East fork. Just have her ride up with the masses.

Hi Beanz,

I replied to your private email on this subject, but as of last weekend Glendora Ridge was totally open, so it should be easy for Gina to meet us at the 2nd barricade. I doubt anyone will need additional water after only nine miles, so it should be all good!

It will be great to see you and Gina again! It seems like I haven't seen you since . . . oh yeah, last Sunday on GMR!

Best Regs.

Thanx Rick, I got your messsage! Yes, it was last sunday on GMR. Does feel like we haven't seen eachother in so long!

Well then, looks like I'll skip the support then! I'll try to talk her into riding, but she isn't one for hot temps and big hills. I'll let her know that TCR ROB is going, maybe she'll change her mind!

Okay Beanz,
I'll ask Jackie if she'd like to ride GMR with Gina. They're probably about the same speed. Jackie is riding well, and told me last night that she needs to ride more climbs (which is not to imply that she likes them!), so I'll see if I can talk her into GMR on Sat.

Are you and Gina going to be starting at 8:00 AM, or maybe a bit earlier? I'm thinking about a 7:00 AM approx. start. All the fast Forum riders will fly past me (as will Jason A. and SirLance), but I've been humiliated before, I can take it!

caligurl and I were about the same speed on Breathless Agony, but she could be lots faster now, I don't know. That Ruby bike seems to work really well for her!

Hey Rick, Gina and I were thinking that if she does ride, I'll do the first 8/9 to the gate, then ride back down to meet Gina (should be a mile or two behind me). I should be wiped out by then so then I'll join her on her second assault on GMR!

She'd start with the crowd. She'd rather be at the back from the start. It's discouraging for her to see everybody fly by her so easily. She'll get used to it in time but for now, what she can't see won't hurt her!

She' really not that comfy yet struggling up the hills in front of others. I did try to talk to her on the way up last week and she had a few choice words for me! A simple ,"SHUT UP" would have been much nicer!

Hi Beanz,
So are you saying that you don't think Gina would like to ride with Jackie? I haven't asked Jackie yet, and I think she was going to do the club (OCRR) ride on Sat. but I can suggest GMR to her and wait for her reaction!

So will there be other gals out there that aren't mtn goats?...ok then, "struggling climbers"?

Or maybe let me know what page the latest list is on in the GMR thread so I can take a look.

Umm... post #1, perhaps? The list is not exhaustive. It's only of people with BikeForums usernames.

Sounds like fun. There'll be riders of both genders perfecting their "struggling climber" routines -- myself included, especially the last 3 miles to the ski lifts. I've been in "Joisey" working like a dog and not riding. And even if I wasn't working, it's rained 6 of the last 7 days anyway.... I hate the east coast.

And (spell)check your sig again!!
