Sat 9/30 any rides happening?

I know many of you are doing the Poway ride on Sunday. Anything happening tomorrow?

jschen 09-29-06 11:47 AM

I believe caligurl is doing a century of some sort. Maybe Angeles Crest? And some others are doing Lighthouse.

Extort 09-29-06 12:01 PM

Irvine to Solano Beach on Saturday (65 miles)
Maybe Poway on Sunday (metric) (Rosarito is out this time so I needed to find a new ride)

Busy weekend at Bonelli.

I'll be there Sunday doing the XC mtb race. And maybe cross if I decide it's worth a shot on the MTB.

Fixer; Cali and Sirlance, Keith and Sarah, Vertical Bob and maybe Big John are doing the AC Century. Some are starting at 6:30. I haven't decided yet because I'm not feeling very good but I may join them along the way, or just go to the start. I'll be self-supported as it sold out months ago. I might just do part of it, there are many options to shorten it.
Also, some of my girlfriends are climbing Hwy 39, I might opt for that, but probably not.

I think I might need a push tomorrow, actually.

Let me know how it went I wanted to do it but I have to work.

n1civicsi 09-29-06 09:41 PM

Do they close roads to traffic and non competeing cyclists?

nesdog 09-29-06 10:58 PM

All I've got is a short ride available in the morning. My wife gets gym rights this weekend! I've got to be back by 8:30 so I figure I'll be able to knock out a good 60-90 minutes if I'm lucky. Oh well. Maybe I can get in a bit over 20 miles if I can drag myself out of bed.

Good night, neverland!

Sheldon

OK......I consumed a half a bottle of vino with my dinner this evening. I need an easy ride. I'm doing the Montrose's 'winter' ride @ 8 am tomorrow morning.

scvroadie 09-30-06 01:08 AM

Helping with the Special Olympics cycling event in the AM. Then if the weather stays nice, plan on climbing up Placerita Canyon, then up to Bear Divide and on to Camp 9. About 3,000 ft of climbing in 15 miles. Nice warm-up ride for our club's fall ride next weekend with 100 miles & 10,000 + ft of climbing.

This mean you're doing the Burrito Century on your fixie?

lsits 09-30-06 12:31 PM

I did about 35 miles from Riverside to Redlands & back. It's the regular RBC ride. It's good to have something to fall back on. I usually ride with the "C" group on Sundays, and this ride was composed mostly of "B" riders. I held my own, though. I don't know if they were taking it easier than normal or not.

Depends, I am riding stagecoach and Tour of Palm Springs fixed this year... buritto century - depends on the climbing...

roadfix 09-30-06 07:57 PM

I did the Montrose easy ride (7:50am ride) this morning on my fixed gear.....exactly 50 miles. Unfortunately there was one crash this morning in our group. Bob (my wife's dentist) apparently ran over a large metal object in the middle of the road, went down, and gashed his knee pretty badly. He was able to ride his bike but decided to turn back with another rider. We all contined on with the ride.
Near the end of the ride we came upon this guy on the side of the road from another fast group in which his carbon fork on both sides had cleanly snapped off clean in the crown area and he went down. Luckily this was on a slight incline so he was only going like 10 mph when his fork failed. I later learned that his Look frame and fork were only a couple of weeks old.

I came home and spent the rest of the afternoon finish building my fixed gear/single speed commuter/coffee bike. This bike looks totally rad....26" wheels, moustache bars, front cantis, Brooks saddle....:D

Is the 100 in December a personal goal or is there an organized 100 out there that I missed? ;)

my58vw 09-30-06 09:44 PM

We were planning a century to San Diego if I remember, but it is a personal goal - to celebrate 3 months back on the bike on that date.

Bob S. from PAA? I hope he's ok-- have you heard anything since then? there's nothing on the mailing list about it.

Yes, Robert S. He had a deep gash in his knee but was able to ride back home. I haven't heard anything since. Hope he's ok.
