Why So-Cal No Alleycat?
Just curious aside from the complete lack of bicycle messengers. :) Streets just not interesting enough? Traffic moves too fast? Anything? :D

Too many suburbs.
The only place where we could have one is around Downtown. I'm pretty sure we have one, I'm just not part of that crowd. |
theres plenty of bike messengers in l.a. and a thriving bike culture scene. check out the midniteridazz.com site and the wolfpack rides. i'm pretty much too old and in the way for this stuff, but its there if you want it.

Ah ha, so that's where they've been hiding... I've heard of it just never knew where to look. :)

Check www.bikeboom.com for a calendar of many different events.

lafixed.com is also trying to make something happen. Orange20 is a new bike shop on the eastside catering to the alleycat style crowd.

Just came from a meeting in downtown LA. You'll see lots of bike messengers there. It just makes since to use bike messengers in areas where offices are concentrated like LA. We just don't have the same density here in OC.

I dunno if anyone else is interested... but My neighbor has been putting on monthly rides thru Old Town Orange... mostly fixies, single-speeders and such... although the last ride we had 4 or 5 peopel show up on MTB's, and a couple BMXer's...
The next ride is going to be the Friday before Xmas, and it will be a mellow cruise to look at Xmas lights, and also a toy drive. I know he has a few things planned for next year, AlleyCats, Poker Runs... thinks like that... I'll post more info about the December ride when I get the info... until then, you can check out the Myspace page for upcoming info. Until then, also enjoy a pic from the last ride... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46...tmothanks3.jpg Jeff |
