Debates are fine, but when the tone becomes harsh or it appears someone is attacking another member just because of his/her opinion, that crosses a line. Brandy, I know you're just being your sweet self (and I mean that sincerely), but I for one, agree with Dan. At this point, based on many of his various posts, I wouldn't want to ride with him. His temper appears more often than what I'm comfortable with (e.g., the post he made this morning telling BDG to shove it...). But again, this is my opinion and my opinion only.

And, to be very clear, this is not directed at you, Brandy, in the least. I'm just using your quote since it brought up the point I hope I'm making.

My whole point on this debate is asking the question:Where DO you draw the line???

At no point did I try to discount other peoples achievements. I was suggesting that if you do a 100mile ride with 5 rest stops why not make your next challenge to be to do a 100 mile ride with 3 rest stops and then 2 and then 1 etc??? rather than run off looking for doubles and triples etc

As for Robbie not being able to handle 160kms on his bike with 2 bottles....please....i had 2 750ml bottles this morning and completed 104kms and had half a bottle of gatorade left and felt fine at the finish...if i added my 1.5ltr camelbak im quite sure that plus my 2 bottles would be adequate on a 100mile ride. I will find out next weekend

So can someone answer my question please: WHERE do you draw the line....because at some point 'x' amount of time between two portions of a century ride would surely invalidate it being a 'century' ride.

You cant hide behind this idea of 'oh a century is whatever you want it to be and its all personal' thats rubbish. These things should be formalised!!!!

I am starting to wonder if you have been in the sun too long! I told you a century is a 100 mile bike ride that is started and finished in the same day. How hard is it for you to let this go? If you want it to be formalised Then fine YOU must ride the 100 miles with out stopping and with out making any left turns.

This is just becoming stupid. Im out!

And, Dan, I'm not backing off of my position. I personally wish you'd exit this forum until you gain the maturity to post with other adults. We've got a 13 year old on here who behaves more respectfully than you do and who knows when to knock it off if he goes too far. Perhaps you could take a lesson from him.

That is really unfair come from you m.e in that my posts relate to cycling. If there is anyone who should exit these forums to gain some maturity it really should you. 95% of your posts are entirely inappropriate and of a sexual nature which is entirely inappropriate in front of a 13 year old.

Ive always supported Max and encouraged him to post whereas you would rather he wasnt here so you can behave in what can only be described as incredibly immature 'high school' nature with sexual innuendo that doesnt add any value to the cycling forum whatsoever.

That statement is a double edged sword. You can hardly just single out ME. You are not contributing anything good to this forum. Really you need to go.

Thank you, again, Sean.

Dan, remember back when you appeared somewhat in control? You were posting with me and a host of others using sexually inappropriate inneundos - so perhaps you should rethink your comments below, "Pot." This is an adult forum. Regardless of whether there are some who don't like my sense of humor, I doubt anyone on here will say that I attack other members, because I do not. I am respectful with others even if I disagree and even if I state that I disagree - and I organize rides and contribute often with cycling related topics. Regardless, this is the extent to which I will defend myself.

You, however, need to leave this forum until you can treat all members with respect - and no matter what you wish to say about any of us on here, this is the case. And as I said previously, I will not back away from this position or opinion.

Not to distract from the flame war, but I just wanted to talk a bit about the actual subject of this thread. I am in, which for me is saying a lot since the Stagecoach will be my first Century in about two years. I hope to do some more difficult organized rides later in 2007 but my fallback for meeting the monthly goal will probably be up and back from La Jolla to Dana Point via PCH. A beautiful, mostly flat ride.

THIS IS NOT AN ADULT FORUM!!!! When are you going to understand this FACT??? It is a bicycle forum for people of all shapes and sizes and ages. Kids need somewhere to learn about cycling too. This is such a place.

Seriously some of your posts are outright 'disgusting'!!!! And you know it!!!

So in the case of calling for someone else to 'leave' the forums it is you who is the 'pot calling the kettle...'

I already apologised to BDG for the 'shove it' comment (which had a following it might i add which should have indicated it was tongue in cheek). Outside of that comment everything ive said in this thread is valid bicycle related comment.

If you read the thread (suprise suprise) the only disrespectful sexual inuendo came from YOU directed at me. I dont appreciate your comments about my physical appearance in any way shape or form.

I am a person interested in riding bikes NOT a pair of legs or anyother body part for you to pass comment on.

It is obvious you have a problem with ME. I do recall you liked the comments when you posted your ride pics a couple months ago. ME posts more ride info and reports then most do, she also has a sense of humor and likes to have fun. She is part of the community in the so-cal forum, and you are not. Why do you knock other people? Trying to alienate them from their community. You were disrespectful in several of your posts, to ME, to BDG, and to the OP about what a century is.

Your interests seem to be more about causing conflict, not riding bikes.

[QUOTE=BigSean]{snip}QUOTE]

He has nothing else, Sean, and taking this stance against my posts is all he can do at this point.

Dan, you can keep it coming if you'd like, but again, I'm not backing off or down from my opinion that I think you need to leave the So Cal forum since it is clear you cannot be respectful to the members here - nor do you seem in control. Your post below aimed at me clearly demonstrates my point.

Damn...this sucks. I hate to see people that I like fighting. I love all of you...those that I have been fortunate enough to ride with and those that I have yet to ride with. Dan is a good friend and I don't want to see him go. I think that some things in this thread have been misread...and I hope that we can all just take a step back, cool off and come back later with clear heads.

perhaps it was a little too rational for you lol I seem to recall a post by you not long ago m.e describing you yelling and screaming at a volunteer at an organised century ride??

You are always in such control arent you and never make mistakes right? I mean I certainly dont think I would ever feel as though I was in a position to evaluate the stability of another poster on an internet forum and then decide I had the right to tell them to 'leave'.

I'm not fighting with anyone, Brandy. I'm stating an opinion that I stick to. I'm completely cognizant of what I've written. Dan is someone who has posted with me and you in all sorts of manners including sexual banter, but yet he is now attacking me because I've had the audacity to ask him to leave until he can be respectful of members. I wonder if he would attack you if you voiced the same opinion (need I answer that?) I feel this way based on many of his posts that express sudden anger and intolerance for others' views. I don't know this man who lives in Australia and certainly would not call him a friend. I've never met him and would not want to at this point. I'm not stepping back as I don't need to cool off. I'm not angry just resolute in my opinion.
