My wife's a teacher (high school AP Chem and AP Environmental Science in Cerritos), and I work in the bike industry, but we both have the week off between Christmas and New Years.

Should be fun!

Best Regs,

I'm a teacher, so ditto on the WEEEEE! But here's the rub: we leave for a week in Hawaii on Sunday AM--wife's treat. I've never been there, it's been as cold as I remember in SoCal lately, and we could use some time away.

But I find myself resenting the time away from my bike, and my usual ride routes. Putting this down in print makes it seem even sillier, but still. . . .

Teacher here as well, so weeeeeeeeee for me too! We call it Winter Break, though, because we can't offend anyone. I can't call my concerts Christmas Concerts either, and since I will have 3 Jehovah's Witness students in my advanced band next year, I won't even be able to play holiday songs. God bless America!

That's such crap. I'm Jewish, but grew up looking forward to good Christmas music--the older and more sacred the better--at school concerts. I mean, if someone wishes me Merry Christmas, they're inviting me to share in their joy, whoever I am. What's to take offense at?

I teach at a private school, with a large minority of Jews and even a couple of Muslims in the student body, and nobody minds Christmas references. I sometimes wonder if these restrictions come from actual student/parent objections, or from bureaucrats with nothing better to do.
