DST is HERE!
DST is here and after-work daylight riding is back. This is so good. Got home, changed clothes, and hopped on the bike for a ride to Torrey Pines. Once up on the inside and once up on the outside and back home in 50 minutes. Beautiful skies, climbing in the shade -ahhhhh this is why I love living in California :)
The only sour note was a scrawny poseur twit who was trying to pretend he was Lance on an epic descent on the inside road in Torrey Pines State Park. This is a mixed use road shared by pedestrians, bikes and cars and is no place to descend even moderately fast. A group of college-age girls were walking abreast of each other and interfered with the perfect line the twit was trying to carve on his heroic descent. When he had to slow and steer wide he shrieked in frustration "MOVE you f****g b****es!!! Idiots like that give roadies a bad rep   The twit was followed by a female rider who seemed to be with him. She appeared to be suitably appalled at his behavior. I prefer to imagine that this was their first and last ride together  |
i did a quick 20 mile recovery ride after work.

Same here, today was a good day to breakin the DST in, got home about 5:30 and was on the road quarter til. Rode from my house down 395 to Gopher Canyon and back, that 3 mile hill coming back is BRUTAL on my SS. Wasn't steep just long, took about 15 minutes to climb it at 9mph or so. Route was only 17 miles and 1130 ft of climbing. I think that will be my new post work training route. I made a route link about it too yeppie!

I rode to work today, 14.7 miles each way. I think I managed a 15.5 mph average because of the exertions over the weekend. Tomorrow I drive so that I can bring home a bunch of my stuff... while the company has not folded yet, I am being prepared.

I went for a hard 30 mile ride to the beach and back. We has our lights on our bikes, but for the first time since October we didn't need them. It was like a hard after work ride in the middle of the summer.
It was glorious! |

The first 30-40 minutes of my morning rides are in the dark, which is fun as my usual routes feel so different in the dark. Then I get to enjoy the sun rise. :D Once the commute starts up I'm better off walking the bike to the trolley station which is only 8-10 minutes waking distance to avoid having to put on enough lighting to see, then packing them away into my panniers for the day when I get on the bus. Once there's enough light in the morning again I may ride to where I catch the bus 3 miles away.

Sucks for us early morning riders :p

waking up in the morning are still killing me, I feel like I'm getting up at 4:30.....my cats aren't even knocking on my door in the mornings so they aren't adjusted to the time, I hope it stays that way for a few days longer.
