Tour de Santa B II - Interest/Date Deciding Thread

We did it once and although I (tongue and cheek) described this as the Curse of Santa Barbara, it was an awesome ride!!! So, I'm trying to determine interest for a repeat (several of you have verbally expressed interest). So, I'm proposing the following dates as options:

May 26th
June 9th
June 16th
July 21st
Some Saturday in the next two years

Please let me know if you are interested and which date works best and I'll get this on the ride calendar.

Here is all the info from last time, only the route may be tinkered with a bit.

This route has been mapped very graciously by Mkadam68! Thank you!

His original post: https://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...&postcount=183

Date: TBD
Start: 7724 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91405
Meet: 7:00am
Roll: 7:30am SHARP
Miles: 103.43
Elevation: 6,335+ ft.

Link to Routeslip.com: https://www.routeslip.com/routes/18416

Detailed Route slip: Attachment 35846

Link to Amtrak's website for additional information: https://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Conten...mtrak/HomePage

About the ride: Rain cancels. The ride isn't too difficult so we may be up in time to take the early train back, but if not, there is a 7:00pm train out. We will make stops along the way to refuel, etc. and I will stop for a quick bite (real food) at some point. I'll try and determine actual stops along the route, but anyone wanting to join, please note that there will NOT be a SAG vehicle on this ride. It is self-support only, so please bring fuel, extra tubes, cash, etc. There will be plenty of places to stop along the way should anyone need to at any time. I will provide my cell phone to all of you at the beginning of the ride.

About the train: The Surfliner normally accommodates bikes. However, there is a risk that the bikes will have to be stored in the luggage car and/or we may have to pay additional fees ($15), but this is rare. I do want those of you coming to be aware, however, and not be shocked should that happen. There are two trains to choose from: 4:29pm departure and a 7:00pm departure. Also, there are stations along the route should anyone want to come back earlier (please go to the Amtrak website for details). I'm sure most of you ride with ID, but please be sure to on Saturday as you will need it to board Amtrak.

Sorry, the poll wasn't up yet. I was confused.

April 21st or 28th work for me. I want to do Cruisin' the Conejo on May 12th.

You can't do the 21st either as you're going to Joshua Tree, remember??

Sigh. I'm never going to be able to find a date at this rate.

April 28th is Wildflower which I'm signed up for, but I'd rather do this than Wildflower and it'll be easy to dump my wildflower registration.

I love your new avatar, Ron. That's great. Yeah, you just reminded me. I need to PM Heddy to tell her I don't want to buy hers. I love Wildflower, but I'm driving to so many rides that I really want to do a couple of rides from my neck of the woods!

Like usual, I'll say maybe. Getting Saturdays off is so difficult for me. Working for the family business doesn't always have it's perks! I'd be interested in riding out with the group 50 miles and then back. I'm not to sure if I want to ride the train back in my riding clothes. I thought that the Surfliner had a Yakima bike rack on the roof

April 28th does not work for me (I have a race the next day that I really want to go to).

The May date conflicts with the Heartbreak Hundred...although I myself am not planning on doing that.

Any possibility of doing this late March/early April? I don't wanna wait so long....wah!
