That would be ME, Keith. It was great to meet you after the race, and I am sorry about putting you at risk. That was all adrenaline on my part. All credit to your bike handling skills and composure. Plus, if we go down where we were at the speed we were going, there would have been more than just us two involved. I went back and checked the distance from my handlebars to the mesh on the barriers based on where my tire had to be to hit the little metal feet supporting the barriers (it was loud), and it couldn't have been more than an inch from making contact.
I'm skipping redlands and anthill; going to do a bunch of RRs over the next month. Good luck and see you out there...

Looks like it's all road, all the time in this thread huh?
I raced on the dirt, at the NMBS race in Fontana, on Saturday morning.
Nothing good to report. Was running a rigid fork 'cause I put off building up the new frame/fork until the last minute, and couldn't get my hands on a BB that fit, so I had to race my rigid SS. That didn't help any. Not doing a proper taper, and going hard at the local crit practice on Thursday night probably didn't help much more, nor did oversleeping and cutting my warm-up time short.
Ended up 7th out of 7 in the Pro/Semi-Pro singlespeed field.
They run pro/semi-pro/expert SSers all at the same time, so at least I wasn't *last*. Did get beat by a couple experts though.
Definitely not my best race. :/
No racing this weekend, as I have other commitments. Bummer, 'cause the Redlands crit course is a 5 minute (if that) ride from my front door.

What Category are you racing? I've signed up for all 3 days in the 35+ 4/5s. This was my best race last year, hopefully I can build on that.

Hanford crit, pack finish, didn't crash. Felt pretty good most of the race, started moving up with a few laps to go and was right behind a crash a little ahead and outside of me on the turn. I had to work a bit (but not too hard) to get back to the group which was much smaller after that. I think many of the people caught on the crash used the free lap and got back on, and more must have caught back on because the field was a pretty good size again the last several laps. I was a little nervous in the corners after the crash and didn't really make any play to move up, and ended up with another mid-pack finish. It was the fastest race I've every done at 25.4mph average, or I guess tied with Baker to Death Valley (which shouldn't count because it was one way with a tailwind)
Edit: I guess with the painkillers after my surgery I forgot I'd already posted something about this race....

remember, if you hear someone cursing you from the back of the pack on the climbs, it's probably just me.

If anyone is into bike swag, I have for sale an authentic Rock Racing trucker hat that fell off one of the team riders during the last lap of the road race at Bonelli. Be the first/coolest kid on the block to sport the hat because, as far as I know, they are not selling any merch. yet.
Seriously though, if anyone wants it, let me know. You can have it. I like the riders on the team, but the gear is a little too much for me.

Santiago Canyon: 14th in Collegiate A's with a 27:09. My roommate won the womens A's!
Santiago Canyon TT Report
Anthill Crit: Hard race in the A's. Pretty much constant attacking up the hill and between turn 1 and 2. I went with a few moves and attacked a few times but nothing stuck for more than a few laps. Bunch sprint and I ended up in the field.

That course is awesome, I think it's the best course we have in So Cal. Too bad it conflicts with the omnium If you're going to small ring the hill (which I suggest), shift early and avoid the chain droppers.

Hello BF racers!!
I haven't checked this site in a while.
Just signed up for Devil's Punch Bowl and was wondering for those of you who have raced this course before, where is a good place to stay the night before the race?
It seems that Pearblossom is a small little town. Any suggestions?

Palmdale probably has some places to stay pretty cheaply.

Thanks Jp!
Is Palmdale pretty close to the race? I guess I can just Google it, but I'm too lazy...

Also, there aren't many places to eat out near the course. I'd suggest the Little Rock Grill on the 138 in the town of Little Rock.
