I don't ever post 'Cyclist Dies...' notices, but this one was really close to home. It's always hard when it's on a road that you have ridden and/or in your backyard.

Question: Any chance anybody knew him?

What really upsets me is the article says that he was struck in the rear when he was crossing from the bike lane into a left turn lane by a possibly (probably...but not passing judgement) unaware driver.

I heard this story on the radio this morning and they said, "A cyclist was killed when he rode too close to cars." I couldn't believe it. (760 KFMB, Rick Roberts show...the lady that does the news said it.)

My thoughts and prayers to a comrade in arms.

Sad to hear that as well - not sure of the entire story or the details of what happened, but that is secondary to the stark fact that someone lost his life.

That's probably less than 10 miles from my house, and a section of the SD Century Route. Hopefully no one else meets the same fate.
